Klock Werks Windshields (Good, Bad or Indifferent)
« on: October 27, 2011, 05:22:25 PM »

I've heard these windshields work well. But I'd like real CVO riders opinions.

I'm 5'-8" and ride a 2011 CVO Street Glide.

Love my 8" Klock Werks Shield. I am 6 feet tall. The 6" shield was too short and created considerable buffeting. 8" is perfect.

I'm 5'10" on 2010 SEUC.  Put mine on at Daytona '10.  Had some cracks at the mounting points, and Klockwerks replaced it N/C at Daytona '11.  No cracks on the new one.  I used to switch windshields several times a year, but have never taken this one off for more than 45K miles.  Love it.

Put one on my 08 Street Glide and it works and looks great. Gonna put one on the 12 SESC as soon as it comes in.

Tried one on my 2010 SESG. Did not care for the distorted view through the windshield when up close to something. Now have a Clearview Windshield with recurve. Both have good wind deflection but prefer the Clearview.

Klock Werks 8.5 (smoked) is awesome product. I'm 5' 10" and very little wind hits the head area plus it looks cool with the black bike. :coolblue:

I have the 11" on my '08 SEUC.  I really like it, but it's not perfect.

Pro: Diverts the wind very well, and puts noticeable down force on the front end (something mine really needed).

Con: Because of its height, it vibrates a lot at idle (don't have this problem with the 6" or 8.5").  It also has the distortion of close objects, as mentioned in a previous post.

I had the 8.5" - looked great on the SG

Performance however was shockingly bad! no improvement whatsoever from stock.

Went with a LRS recurve and whilst it doesn't look as good as the KW it's far better at getting rid of the buffeting.

I am 6'3'' and LOVE my Klock Werks shield. Blocks the wind well, looks good and feels so much better than the stock one. I stopped in at the Klock Werks facility this year and was treated like a long lost friend. Their warranty and service are second to none. Good people and a great product.  You will not go wrong with any purchase from them.

I strongly recommend looking into a Freedomsheild. IMHO they are the best built and do an excellent job. Also if you ever plan on using a windshield bag for glasses and such it WILL work.

I am 6'01" and love the look of the stock shorty windshield on my 2010 Street Glide but didn't like the wind beating my head took.  Went with the 8.5" Klockwerks shield and loved it, until.........  cracked so badly around the mount bolts and after having it to dealer for service and they washed it, the center mount hole "blew out" all around the bolt from the cracks.  Not sure if they used air to dry the bike or hit the front with a power washer but since it was already cracked I didn't expect them to replace it.  I also bought it from e-bay to save some money and don't think Klock would warranty it because I didn't buy it from them.  Dealer did the right thing in my mind and offered 10% off new one and no labor charge installation - unfortunately don't have the $$ currently to buy a new one so back to the stock one for a while.

Sorry for rambling, answer to your question is I love the 8.5" Klock Werks shield.

Annnd, don't forget F-4 Windshields.  The plastic is the same Polycarbonate used by Nascar.  It is very difficult to scratch, so if you want to clean with a paper towel, go ahead!  I've fit these on the last few bikes I've owned and won't us any other.  http://www.f4customs.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GLNTD-HVN57KAPANP&Product_Code=F4-FLHT-ULTRA-12-C

Most other windshields are made from Lexan, a strong but easily scratched material.  Nothing bugs me more than looking through a scratched windshield.

Whatever works for you friend.  Hope whatever you get makes for a more enoyable and safer ride!
