Heated seat are nice for payback also...When your BSR gets under your skin in the warm months and doesn't know all the gadgets on the bike, you can put it on low just to aggravate her, LMAO...

I've done this a couple times already.

I really like the stock seat on my '03 SERK, so I decided to find a seat heater and do it myself.  It was a fairly easy task; the most difficult was removing the thousand-plus staples holding the seat cover on.  Installed one for the rider and passenger.  Looks factory and along with the Heat Demons it should be the warmest winter riding I've had yet!

Did you use the heating pad that Heat Demons offers?  If so I'd be interested in the details of it's electrical hook up and on/off controls.

Does it have just on and off?  Or an intermediate option also?  If only on and off is it always on or does it kick itself off after some predetermined amount of time?  Need relay in line to power it?  Any boring details you can think of.  Thanks.

No, I used this one.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/heated-seat-kit-2-seats-installed-round-switch-seat-heater-carbon-fiber-heat-pad-/180748263417?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2a156f9ff9  I emailed the seller and got them to list a heater for just one seat (comes with two pads for seat and back) and used the two pads for rider and passenger.  I wrapped the heater good in plastic to make it as waterproof as possible, although I doubt being wet would harm the carbon fiber elements.  It comes pre-wired and I haven't ridden very long yet (not cold enough), but I don't see anything in the circuitry that would cause it to go off after a pre-determined amount of time.  It's pretty much plug and play with a single switch control for rider and passenger that has high and low settings.  Another alternative would be this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/WarmSeats-WaterProof-Motorcycle-Seat-Heater-/320745330144?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4aade955e0 , which would be waterproof, but you would have to purchase a separate one for the passenger if you wanted to heat that portion of the seat.  If mine craps out I will probably use this one next, but I didn't find it until after I had already purchased the other one.

No, I used this one.

Thanks very much for the benefit of your already doing the homework.  Have a solo seat that will need recovered sometime sooner than later and hadn't begun the heated pad research yet.

Then I would recommend the second one I listed...the waterproof one.  The one with two pads won't work on low heat if only one of the pads is used.

Just noticed that in a schematic on their site.  The pad on the one you're suggesting is considerably larger than the pad in the kit from Heat Demons but the price is the same.  Will still fit within the solo seat's seating area though.  So looks like a good option.  Probably just saved a couple hours homework sometime later on.  Thanks.

You're welcome.  Also, you can trim the carbon fiber heating element.  You can remove up to seven inches from the length I(did on both elements), but you cannot trim the width.  I also cut holes in mine where required to run the straps that need to run down thru it to secure the seat cover with no problem.  These carbon fiber elements are really very versatile.

Just seeems that my butt is the last to get cold.  I have never tried a heated seat and do not know of anyone with one so any advice would be appreciated             Thanks Billy
