Well, you got me there... the MoCo IS all about money after all...  :nixweiss:

Is there another reason to be in business?  They're not as charitable organization.

Agreed, but when year after year reports of specific problems are not dealt with; one may come to whatever conclusions they may.  The bottom line is essential for any business; consequently it appears 'they' turn a deaf ear to so many nagging items that should be corrected before the product is released.  Customers are not supposed to be considered the test bed for manufacturing.  It's understandable when something slips by once in a while.  But the question arises when it becomes painfully obvious and corrections could be made in a following year model or even through recall or service during the warranty period. The first year after the type bag holders were used, they should have changed to a more secure hardware.  We shouldn't have to be going to the aftermarket for these types of fixes.

Just got my package from Brukus this week and will install it today.  Now I'm hearing the bags can be removed by a thief anyways? Can they do this with the bags locked?  Not a happy camper here.   :-\ Brukus assured this will help prevent theft.  Respectfully, I'd like to see some proof they can be removed with the bags locked.

Without doing any damage to the bags??  The only way I can think of with the bags locked is if they can get a pliers on the other end of the screw that comes through the clip on the rear saddlebag support--maybe. And that will take some time. Then a 7/16" wrench on the front bracket.

Like anything else in this world, if a thief wants it bad enough and they have enough time......The idea is to make it hard enough so they will pass on yours and go look elsewhere.

Yes.  At least on my 2003 SERK you can easily remove both the saddlebag mounting brackets with a 7/16" open end wrench without doing any damage to the bags.  I've done it just to see if I could.  I use blue loctite and lock washers on the bolts which makes them a little more difficult to remove, but I can easily remove both bolts in less than two minutes.  I have the Brukus hardware, which helps give me some peace of mind I guess, but as they say....if a thief really wants them, they will get them.  One fix I though of would be to use the tamperproof bolts like come with the Brukus kit to install the brackets as well.  That would make them very very difficult to remove without first removing the saddlebags.  And even with the bags removed you would need the security tool to remove the bolts.

Sounds like an idea you may want to run it by Brukus.  If they're interested and agree, they're may be a reward for ya.

I like your idea too, but my family is from Missouri...so would you please "show me"?
 :worthless:
How will a thief defeat the Brukus security hardware, with the bags still locked?  Good stuff by the way.  Thanks!

And here is a pic of the same wrench on the bolt for the rear bracket.  With these two bolts removed the bag can be easily removed...brackets and all.

On my '11 SESG the rear saddlebag bracket is part of the muffler support and is bolted to the frame. The could get the front bracket off with the wrench, but the rear one is much more difficult. Maybe that's a 2009 and up new frame thing?? Not sure....

Ok, I know I'm a newbie to the CVO, but I'm also dealing with having to replace the TP and saddlebags on my 2007 CUSE because they were stolen from the bike I just bought.

Let me tell you, this is a NIGHTMARE of a process.  Imagine calling the Parts department at your local HD stealership, then a couple of others to get pricing b/c they don't all price things equally.

Then search CL and eBay for used parts that aren't going to be a simple plug and play.

A solution that isn't perfect?  Well, what else do you have in mind?  It can't happen to you?  Well, it can.  That's why you have insurance?  Sure, let them pay for replacing your saddlebags and TP.  How much can that be?  Each saddlebag on my bike is $1400 and that doesn't include all the hardware and chrome accents.  The TP AND speakers, and antennae is about $3k if I want a CVO TP.

All said and done, it's about $6k worth of replacement parts.

That means your insurance premiums go up.  How much up?  A lot up.  Go to another insurance company?  They know when you made a claim against your present insurer.  Basically, bend over.

So, until there is a better solution, I'll use the best I can use.  Can it be improved?  Sounds like it.  That's what a forum is for.  Please come up with a better solution and share it with your brothers in the wind.

All I know is as soon as I have the replacement parts I'm going to look for something that will deter a thief.  I work in the software industry and security is ALWAYS a cat and mouse game.  Thiefs take pride in overcoming the security measures a company creates.  These security devices are no different.

Is it our responsibility to come up with a better mouse trap?  Nope.  Can we all benefit from it?  Yep, and if you had to go through what I'm going through, having products like these, and improvements to products like these would be a better use of my time and yours if you get your stuff stolen.

Well, I'm back to monitoring eBay auctions and perusing Craigslist for replacements parts, sending emails and messages to everyone asking them if they'd accept $X when they want $Y and hoping, someone appreciates paying it forward for some good karma to give me a small break.

Good luck, happy riding, be safe.

I feel for ya..but a couple of points...have you tried buying your parts from a 20% off dealer online. As long as you have part numbers you can save yourself a bunch of $$$. Your insurance company will pay retail and you will pay 20% less.....

As far as your insurance going up...I put a claim in for $11,000 for damage from an accident  2 years ago and my rates didn't go up at all.
