dont think i've seen it mentioned in this thread, but if you are considering carrying, when was the last time you had some range time? even worse then the afterfact of discharging into your intended target is what happens if you miss

its time for me to renew my permit ( every 4yrs in MA ) and i need to take another safety course

Actually probably more critical is drawing and aiming......from wherever you carry it.... do your "ones"

very cool idea.... are they coming to our next rally?
There is a place in North Attleboro; I cant recall the name that runs scenarios where the bad guys shoot back at you with ping pong balls or something..you might have to be "on the job" to get in

It's 5 yrs. in the Mountain State.  I just noticed the Permit used to refer to "Concealed Dangerous and Deadly Weapon."  Now, it says "Concealed Pistol or Revolver."  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Later--HUBBARD

It lists all the current state laws and which states honor other states permits and where NOT to EVER go with a handgun (DC, Maryland, NYC, among others) (All the places you seem to want to carry).
As said before in this post, if you choose to carry, know how to use it, get something that will work, and get your head right about what will happen after the trigger is pulled. Best advice yet, avoid places that you may need to use it (gospel according to Hubbard!).

  Thanks for posting that website.  Very, very interesting.  Was just made aware, as of Aug. 22, 2005, I am no longer required to inform Law Enforcement I am packing, when pulled over, or come upon a Traffic Check.  Also good to know all the States that recognize a WV "Permit to Carry."  Good information.  Can't get too much of that!  Later--HUBBARD

No problem Hubbard, it is a nice web site and although VA discontinued the "must inform" law, they added a flag to every vehicle you register that says you have a permit. So when an officer runs your tag, he knows you have a permit. Maybe they should think of a way to identify those who don't bother to get a permit!  The other thing you noticed on your permit (title change) has been a recent issue with these reciprocity agreements between the states. They want to make sure that if the state you live in says "pistol" and another state says "concealed weapon" (which implies knife, stun gun, brass knucks,etc) then they don't have to honor it in the other state. They are trying to pass a national law right now,  H.R. 4547/S. 3275-Legislation that would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state if he or she meets certain criteria.  Importantly, the laws of each state governing where concealed firearms may be carried would still apply within its borders.
It would be nice if something like this would pass!
