4s of 5?

What I heard (and made sense) is that because most of us have 2 year contracts and the 4 just came out a year ago most folks are not going to buy the phone outright and will wait for the contract to end.

So make a 4s this year, all the rest of us (e.g. me) might be ready to upgrade now, hence i have a phone coming. Next year when all the 4 contracts are coming to an end we may see the 5, then those of us that got the 4s this year get to wait another year.

Makes sense, Apple potentially doubled their yearly sales with the ploy.

Anyone notice the battery life going down with the 5.0 update?  Waiting on the fix for this one.

We had been waiting for the promised 5 to come out. Our contract had expired back in April and we both so wanted to get an iphone. Not that the smart phones we've been using were not great, they were, but maybe more than Jamey, I really wanted the iphone. When the 4S was released, and talk of 5 being so far away, we finally caved and got the 4S. 
I'm not sorry I did not wait, am happy I waited for the 4S

Some tidbits-thoughts, there is a software upgrade for battery related issues.
Time zone checking is supposedly one of the drains. With the setting set to check for correct time zone the phone is accessing the cell network way to frequently and killing the battery.

........Does you 4 have the ability to charge from the iPod docks or does it still say "Not Recommended" like my 3G does when I use it with the docks?

I have a Bose system with an ipod dock. It gives me that message when I plug it up. However, it plays the music fine and as far as I know it charges it. However, now you have me curious as to whether it actually does charge when playing. I'll check it soon to see.

I use my iphone 4 on my bike ( it gives a error code) to listen to Pandora & it charges while I ride.

On the iPhone 4 that I have, you get all iOS 5 functionality except Siri. The iCloud synching across devices is really very cool. I migrated my Mobile Me account to iCloud a couple of weeks ago, and I'm sure not looking back.  I hardly ever need to even sync my devices via iTunes anymore - except for iOS updates.

When I updated to ios5 and tried to log in for the iCloud I ran into a snag. It asked for my username and password for the iTunes store. Once I tried to log in with my regular username, it said it needed a "email username". Once I added my email and password it said it was already in use (Duh!) by another user and I need to pick another. Then I tried enough times back and forth it locked my account down for security reasons and gave me a site to go to to change my password. I did that but it still doesn't work.

Have you heard of this and is there a solution? I don't believe iCloud will work until I can do that. I have been able to log into iTunes for application updates using the new password since. Weird.

If you jail break the phone , perhaps you will get Siri, but the Siri the jailbroken phones get DO NOT GET RESPONSE FROM APPLE SERVER. So basically is useless.
I bought the 4S since I was eligible for an upgrade and really enjoy the Siri  UI , particularly when you curse and she said "david watch your language" or " i did not deserve that". In general is really good in scheduling reminders calendars alarms and doing mathematical calculation, currency exchange etc. Of course weather and directions . This interface will go as far as Apple wants to take it.

I don't want to jailbreak mine. I have read a lot about it and was tempted but I'm afraid I'd just end up bricking my phone. Good to hear Siri works as advertised on the calendar scheduling and whatnot. Thats the main reason I wanted to get a 4s. Sometimes when I go to the local store I show I am available for an upgrade on phones even though Verizon says I am not at the home office. <maybe I will check into that.

happen to me same thing. took me forever to figure out how to fix. the fix after hours of trying was a fluke fix...you need to 86 that 2nd email . i tried for a long time to get rid of it . on my last try i was feed up and just wanted out and went to switch out of page and a message pop-up and said do u really want to do this cause it will wipe out that e-mail forever . thats what i,d been trying to do for hours..good luck -ak
