I agree.....chrome inner primary is icing on the cake.

Chrome inner primary cover is cheesy.  JMHO :nixweiss:

My opinion is if you want it in chrome get the part in chrome, don't put a cover over it.  It just adds weight, traps heat, creates another place for road grime to collect that is hard to get at, and with most Kuryachin (or however it's spelled) looks cheap too.

Kuryakyn engine chrome is 100% better than HD. Chrome quality and design of parts are better no doubt. Can't speak for the rest of their stuff don't us it,

Kuryakin has a lot of quality chrome items but they have gone too far in the curvy, sci-fi type design of some of their chrome.  Particularly the tp addons.  Just too busy looking for me.  I like clean lines and most of what they now have has taken curvy, weird shapes that break up the lines of the bike rather than accentuate them.

I thought the Kuryakyn shroud was better quality than HD.  I have read over and over again that it's not the best idea to put cover components on your bike becasue it traps heat?

To much of that stuff looks funky, Its just not the same as the hd products. Maybe a license plate frame or something small but i wouldnt use any of it on my bikes. Looks cheap to me-sorry :orange: :bananarock:

X2.......I agree 100%, and I know alot of people will say "look at where your HD stuff is made" but why support a company that makes 100% percent of their stuff overseas and doesn't support the workers in the US? I have 0% percent Kuryakyn crap on my bike....

Your advice is greatly appreciated. That is what I was thinking as well. One more question, please. What about the Harley inner primary cover in chrome? Worth doing, or again, just a little bit too much chrome?

I have that part on my bike also,,,,,,,love the look it brings, very heavy quality, little tuff to install but with patience it will go on.

Thanks. seems like the HD inner primary is a go.

You can bet all the holes line up, and everything fits better than some aftermarket stuff.........just my past experience

Chrome Inner Primary Cover: No
Chrome Inner Primary: YES

Agreed. I have a lot of chrome covers on the old Evo - including a Kury inner primary cover - and they look fine on that old skool, "dripping with chrome" bike.

But on this CVO I am not going to muck it up with much, if any, extra chrome stuff. The lifter blocks are already chrome anyway. I would like a real chrome inner primary at some point - but the granite one on this engine looks fine. I am concerned that a chrome inner might indeed be too much chrome... and installing an inner is a lot of work... but the orange engine area accent lights (not installed yet) would sure bounce off of it!

I am also thinking about the spark plug area fillers with the fins, and painting them granite to match the engine. That would clean up the rather ugly spark plug area.

I put a chrome HD inner primary on my 01 low rider and I had chronic oils leaks from then until I sold the bike. I had it on and off a couple times and hd dealer did as well. Leaked the most after dealer had his way with it. I took it off one last time washed everything with soapy water and then permatex the living crap out of it and got it down to a few drips everytime I parked it. I would never do it again! I have always thought the Kuryakin chrome looked like Honda crap and think if you want chrome but the chrome part not a cheap looking square no character cover for your cover?  JM2C

Hey Hawg, this is what it looks like when you're done.  I used wire to support them, painted, then after dry used sandpaper on the front edges.  Turned out real nice.  Don't forget to tape over the logo.  ;)  It's recessed just enough for a blocked sandpaper to go over it without scratching it.  The hd granite is a perfect match.

another,  the flash makes the inside of the fins look brighter than it is.

Wonder if a couple chrome snap caps would fit in the mounting screw holes?   And by the way it took all of 5 minutes to get them on.  HArdest part was turning the little allen wrench so many times to get it tight.  Best to install the base mount screws ahead of time until you can just barely get them on, then tighten.

Oh Yeah Mon! I DO like the look of those. Really fills up the big hole nicely. You talked me into it with those pics!

Is the H-D Granite rattle can an item you can generally just buy at a dealer, or is it special order?
