Jim,

I added a variable resistor to the sending unit circuit that allows me to fine tune the gauge reading.  See this thread for details:  http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1118059114/15  , replies 18, 25, 29 thru 32.

The reason I like this approach is that it allows me to make adjustments without cracking the tank open and playing with the float.  It's a very simple operation once you find the variable resistor.
