Ummm...ok, here goes;
The view in the mirrors is great for me..better then stock...I see more of the road and less of my shoulders. That being said, I can not comment on turning my head and looking back as I do this EVERY TIME I change lanes...I will say, there has never been a "surprise" where my mirror said go and there was a car there.

Lines and cables... All the electrical worked, throttle lines worked, the clutch I don't remember. As for the brake, the dealer used the original to save me money..it is very tight. I would have prefered a longer brake cable and if I were do do it again I would insist on the "2 inch over" brake cable.

I also do a HEAD CHECK everytime I change lanes, I was just referring to a routine look to see who/what is going on behind me. Thanks for the info about the cables/lines and those great pictures. Besides the expense, was there any downside to this project as far as handling, ergonomics or any other unknowns??

NONE! Very happy that I did it.

I was thinking FR8TRN (freight train) was the first of the ultra riders to do the 575 bars.  Could be mistaken though.  Were it not for the premature senility allowing me not to recognize it the Alzheimers would be a real bitch.

Nah wasn't me...I still got the stock bars on....I have ape arms instead of ape hangers. ;)

That works too!  Would've saved me some money over the years adjusting bikes to my stubby models.

Talk about your sudden bolts back to reality.  I would have sworn I always did this.  I knew I always used to do it.  Never consciuosly stopped doing it.  Would have bet money I was doing and doing it right every time.  Then on the way back from Cripple Creek coming across I-70 in Kansas not once but twice a cage tooted at me as I started to change lines closer to them than I should have.  Both times they weren't spotted in the mirror and I had no clue there was a car there.  Some habits we're sure we're doing can slowly fall away over the years and we don't even realize we've stopped doing (or stopped doing it well).  There has been some conscious retraining going on since that trip.

I also am new to the group an am vertically challenged , 5'5" and can't turn a wrench. Woul like the handlebars about 2 inches closer to me. Can the bars rolll down and would that bring them a little closer? Easy to do?? Also hows about adjusting the rotation of the front brake and clutch? It was easy on my old netric bikes.  Serk 08 . Thanks. I'm all thumbs. Dean
