Jorge,
Glad to hear that it was something minor as a hose being split (if there can be a minor incident such as this [smiley=confused5.gif] I'm sure you didn't feel this way when you saw all that oil running out [smiley=nervous.gif]). Hopefully there was no damage to the motor. This will be something you want to keep an eye on, as it seems this is a design flaw as so many have had this problem. Maybe the MoCo will design some type of sheath to put on this hose to keep this from happening in the future (I would dare to say this is being caused by vibration and rubbing against something). Ok...I'm putting mine up on the jack and looking at this TONIGHT!!   [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif]

Is this a plainly visible hose, or does one have to take stuff off to see it?  Would a fix be to have a braided hose made for it at a local hose/hydraulic/belt shop? [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Ya know...I had 2 Suzuki Intruder 1500's and paid about $8500 for each one new...and they came with braided lines and hydraulic type connections for the oil cooler....which was stock on the bike.  For $32K you'd think the MoCo could do things a little better.

Mine started doing the same thing Saturday. I'll be taking it to the dealer tomorrow. It sounds like we have another quality control issue. What do you expect for $32K ?  [smiley=beatdeadhorse.gif]

Wonder what (if anything) changed between 05 and 06 to generate what seems to be a statistically significant amount of problem here?  Because I really don't remember the SEEGs ever reporting this issue; at least not in this proportion.

Looked at mine when I got home...the hoses do make some sharp bends, and one of them (the top one) is laying against the frame, about where the bend is located.  I pulled my away from the frame a bit, and you can see where it has been laying, but no noticable wear....the contraction and expanding of the hose due to temp, could eventually cause a problem though. Or, maybe the hose material is just sub-par.  Looks like the hoses could be made up of something with a braided material on the outside though...like stainless.  You would definitely have to have them made to fit though, as normal hose material would kink with the bends necessary.  I'm gonna' look a little harder, when I can get it up on the jack and get underneath easier.

For those of you who've had the problem...where did the hose break/come loose?

Doesn't seem to be a problem on the SEEG's for some reason, but it would be good to know if the hoses are different, or whatever differences in the two are.

I'll have to look at mines. But maybe someone can take pictures and post of all the CVO's that have 103 motors and oil coolers. It would be interesting to see if there is a lot of difference. I'll not be able to post pics of mines until Thursday.

On an 05 SEEG the kit part number that supplies both hoses is 62899-03A.  Just check and there is no supercession on that number since my parts catalog was published.  So still a good part number (Cost is $20.00 by the way.  For that little money for a pair of molded hoses you'd never find anyplace else I'm going to get a set to throw in the bike just for "what if" purposes.).

Anyone got an 06's part catalog to compare numbers against?

If there is no difference in part #'s then could it possible be the way the lines are run? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

We'd have to eyeball a pair of bikes for comparison Gary.  But there's really not any alternative locations or routing methods for them to go through up there.  Couple that with the fact that the same hands on the same assembly line had already been installed the same part for two years on the SEEGs and it seems unlikely their hands could relearned a new method even if they'd wanted to.

My scoot's semi unclean right now from a run Sunday afternoon, or I'd shoot a photo or two...will try and do some this week.  There's got to be something different going on though.  For 20 bucks, the extra set of hoses would be worthwhile having around.  I'll damn sure be looking at my oil gauge all the time now until we can figure this one out.  Right now, I consistantly run about 32 at speed and about 10 at idle, even with 100 degree temps outside and the oil running about 225 degrees...if you can believe the gauge, that is.  I'm not running syn3 though.

Jorge said the stealer told him it split at one of the bends...wonder if it's the same one I'm seeing against the frame and it just weakened there over a few miles.  One guy had his spray with only a few miles on the bike though.... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

This could be real serious if it oiled down your rear tire at 70 or 80 MPH  [smiley=nervous.gif]
