Wow! This thread sure turned into a big debate about dyno philosophies.

Here's my 2 cents----

Once you get your bike back that has been tuned on the dyno of your choice take the bike to the track and give us your 1/4 mile times and speeds.

Dyno numbers are one thing but the 1/4 mile doesn't lie.

Slacker2, It's always great to see guys building power. Best of luck on your build.

Using a dyno solely as a means to show how much power is produced is wrong.  Hell, the numbers are made up in the first place.  The real value in any given dyno is repeatable consistency with itself for drawing conclusions as to whether tuning changes were for the better or worse.

Competitive is one thing but the reality is most just want a fixed torque curve and a little more snap.
Then they go a few steps over.
I have phone calls from guys in the same area and they tell me they will have tunes done by Joes and I tell them they will probably run well and the guy is a decent tuner. I would not use the results for any type of comparisons. I have several of them I have never published.

I believe that slacker has STD, SAE, and actual reports at this point.
His heads/cam/compression/combo is more of a hot-rod, set-up.
Not your typical touring combo.

This has been an interesting read.  Thanks guys.  I now know you can't trust a dyno, unless you're mechanically informed enough to know whether it was tricked out or not.  Whew!

I would like to see Slacker's dyno on this build.  Or did I somehow miss that post?    

I am going to Joe's to pick up bike and paperwork on Thursday...will post dyno sheets that afternoon if I have time when I get back or first thing Friday AM.
