Never heard of Sheppard's Trail...fill us in, always looking for a new place to go.

little area i ride in several times a year. lot less crowded than dragon and surrounding roads are fun and very scenic. Ky. has no helmet laws for those that it matters too. cumberland gap park is close and really impressive water falls is a short ride away. Just a really fun area to ride mostly because its NOT crowded. Can you say hillbilly world.

I have been there and rode it, its great,and a very nice ride. Dont let the ride it fast guys bother ya and it is a good ride.
We stay in Pigeon Forge and plan our trip, you can take many round trip rides in that area and in the month of October the colors
are spectacular. 318 curves in 11 miles of mountain road will really sharpen your ridin. and the Cherohala skyway has beautiful
views, a nice all day ride.

BAGGER 1, Since you live in Ringgold have you rode The Gauntlet, 133 miles of great N. Ga. Mtn. roads.

Don't let the video scare you.  The road is awesome and a lot of fun to ride.  As many have stated previously; ride this in the middle of the week if possible, less of the crotch rockets and sports cars trying to see how fast the can make it thru. 

Rode the Dragon with my wife this past October; 2 up on the old Road King.  She was a nervous about riding it due to the fact that she is not real fond of twisties to begin with, and the stories she has read/seen/heard on the internet and thru friends.  Once we got down to the store and stopped for a rest, she said she enjoyed the ride and decided that it was not as bad as people made it out to be.  She even stated that she would like to ride it again some day.     

The key to any riding is to ride within you own limits, don't let the other riders around you force you out of your comfort zone.

Marty and I rode the Dragon with Chip on our way to The New River Gorge, it was fun and if you ride with some sense in mind you'll do fine, there were some stupid people on Roch Rockets going like hell. And that seems to be the major problem.
