What is the best priced company for Virginia bike insurance. My current company went up over 50%.

Check out Markel Bikeline.  (www.markelinsuresfun.com).  This was the least expensive insurance I could find a few yrs. ago (recommended by a local HD dealer).  Had thousands of dollars in damage to my bike during Katrina and they didn't bat an eye on my claim...

Go to this site   http://www.fernet.com/  They are just brokers, but they got me insurance with Foremost Ins Co. Had a claim a few years back--they came to see the bike in 2 days and within the first week I had a check for $11,000 to fix it....and my rate has not gone up.

There are a lot of variables in insurance.  A big one for me......which one is going to pay a claim the fastest and with the least amount of BS.  For that reason, I've stayed with Allstate for the past fifteen years....even though there are others that are cheaper.

You also want to consider are they going to pay replacement or declared value or are they just going to pay NADA/blue book value?  Are they going to cover all your mods?  It goes on and on.  Like any insurance....none of those considerations are very important......................until you need it.

Interesting...I have Allstate for the past 20 years for home and auto and I am friendly with my agent..I always ask him--when can you do my bikes? And he tells me he could not compete for the same coverage and to stay where I am.....

Allstate here,, although the premiums are a bit high...  And there advertisements stating discounts for safe drivers is a joke or a scam because i've never seen any for the last 15 years..   :nixweiss:

The operative phrase in Muddy's question was "Virginia bike insurance".  What is the cheapest or best in one state is often not a great deal in another state, since most companies set rates based on claim history in each state.  For instance, Progressive used to be the cheapest and best bike insurance in Indiana for many years, and then overnight they became one of the most expensive.  When I questioned the huge increase, it was explained that they had experienced a big increase in claims and costs in Indiana and thus the rates had to go up.  I went with Foremost for a few years, and they were fine, but then they started that same "rate creep" and now I'm with GEICO.

If you watch all the ads on TV you might notice that each and every major company claims they will cut your premiums by hundreds if you switch.  Think about that for a moment, and you should be able to see through that BS pretty easily.  At the same time State Farm, for instance, is offering you a $400 better rate to switch from GEICO, GEICO is offering a $400 better rate to folks to change from State Farm to them.  DUH!

Anyhow, these days you can get quotes online from most of the big name insurer's, and that's what I would recommend Muddy.  Go to the websites of the major insurance companies and get a quote from each, just make sure they are all for the same coverage amounts.  Some tend to default to state minimum coverage limits to make their price look much better.  Or find a good independent agent and let him do all the research for you.

For me in Tennessee, we changed to Progressive when Tenn Farm Bureau kept raising premium, even tho we have never filed a claim. Good luck.

I have Progressive also, and my agent is great.  Just so you will know my one year premium was 389.00   250.00 deduct 100.000 liability.
I am in N. Georgia,  Is this to much ?

I started with Allstate when I first started riding 11 yrs ago. Switched to Progressive for 8 years. Then back to Allstate because they had better rates at the time. On the new ride HD thru Progressive was less than Allstate.  My guess would be to shop around. Take the Advanced Riders Course. HOG will refund $50.00 back and insurance rates drop additional 10%. Good luck and ride safe.
