I have State Farm insurance and it helps to have other insurance as well such as auto and home insurance.

Same here - bundled with home and auto and cannot get anywhere near that price anywhere else.  They were fair when my '07 was under 15' of water in MN during a trip.

Stay away from AMERICAN FAMILY  I carried a rider on my last mc that was to cover my $10,000 in OEM parts but when I got rear ended in June and my scooter was totaled, they are only offering me blue book.  Needless to say I am suing them and we go to court March 17th unless they settle before that date.  What really hurts is I am still making payments on a mc sitting down at my dealer totalled until this thing gets settled. It has been 8 months.  :(

I have Progressive also, and my agent is great.  Just so you will know my one year premium was 389.00   250.00 deduct 100.000 liability.
I am in N. Georgia,  Is this to much ?

Man you guys are lucky. I have a great driving record with no accidents/claims and mine is around $1,300.00 That is cheap for Canada.

I pay $1600 a year full coverage for a 2004 Korean farm truck, 2008 Road King and a 2011 SESG with USAA. I insure my 1980 FXB Sturgis locally here in Korea.

I had GMAC, moved from Nc to SC and had to change to Foremost. Doubled the cost. SC is no helmet, does this make difference in cost?

I would imagine that could be a factor in rates.
Most people think of just their driving record, age and miles driven each year when it comes to insurance rates but other things come into play too.
Such as how expensive are the medical claims in the area, type of bike not only riding style but how much is that bike a theft claim for the area.
Is your bike listed as primary vehicle or not can affect rates too.
then you get into things like how long is the average riding season for that state, down south they may base rates on a 12 month riding season yet up north they realize you may only ride a couple of months a year. Also if there have been natural disasters such as flooding etc. that may affect the number of claims to the insurance company and in turn cost more money.

There are a lot of variables in insurance.  A big one for me......which one is going to pay a claim the fastest and with the least amount of BS.  For that reason, I've stayed with Allstate for the past fifteen years....even though there are others that are cheaper.

You also want to consider are they going to pay replacement or declared value or are they just going to pay NADA/blue book value?  Are they going to cover all your mods?  It goes on and on.  Like any insurance....none of those considerations are very important......................until you need it.

x2 (except it has been 40+ years)

A little of topic from Virginia, but I have Progressive in South Florida. I pay a lot but wanted the works on insurance. I am thinking about Advanced rider course if I can save on insurance. I did check out pricing on the internet and finally usd a broker who had the same rate as if I went alone. My bill is 1200 yearly now.

My Allstate came in at $504. Would have been just over $400 if I game them my house and cars. House was OK but they wanted double what I now pay on my cars. Everyone else was $750-960 for the bike. Never had a claim and hope to stay that way. I paid very little in MN but that included a few months of winter storage.

Allstate until last month...Allstate is cool, but watch out when you file claims.. Last Aug we got evacuated from our home for two days due to a propane tanke fire nearby...we stayed in a hotel and filed clam with our insurance, as instructed by authorities. Our hotel claim was $210.  Las Jan we learned Alstate jacked our homeowners up 28% due to that claim, I wished I never filed as instructed.   Now here is the icing on the cake. Last Nove Wife got rear ended by uninsured motorist.. We filed a claim to fix rear bumper, $600.  Again this January on renewal day, we learned Allstate doubled our auto insurance do to that claim... We are now with Farmers at cheaper rates before Allstate started to jack our rates up.... Also, these adds that Allstate run about safe driver discounts don't appy in all states, including California...I'm done with Alstate,

Allstate uses the old "bait and hook" sales tactic's.  They lure you in with reasonable rates and sit back waiting for you to file a claim and then they hose you.  :'(.

Every year I shop all my insurance. With two cars, bike, big boat, house, and two businesses I pay a bunch. And I also pay all my medical. Thanks you Mr President for getting my medical insurance raised.

Interesting...I have Allstate for the past 20 years for home and auto and I am friendly with my agent..I always ask him--when can you do my bikes? And he tells me he could not compete for the same coverage and to stay where I am.....

Same here. 30 years with my auto and 22 years with my home. All with Allstate. 2 different agents. Both are much cheaper than whats out there. I have asked twice to combine my bikes with Allstate and the rate was not even close to what I am paying. I have been with the same motorcycle insurance co. for 25 years. When I got my ride last year i asked around and they had the lowest rate too. I guess loyalty does pay off.
