Just pulled down a couple more wire stories that did follow up coverage on this storm.  Now reporting it was a single tornado on the ground for just over 22 miles.  Started over around Kimberling City and rode the hills across to then follow the strip before losing steam a bit further out in Taney county.  EF2 category and on the ground for a long time. 

As I (barely) understand these things that type of terrain is an unusal path for a tornado to follow that long.  Unusual or not the damn thing hung around far longer than it needed to.

I think I read the same account.  They said it pulled up about 2 miles west of Kissee Mills (where I have relatives), which is a little bump-in-the-road burg on 160 southeast of Forsyth, if you know where that is.  That is a long trek for a storm to stay on the ground in that severe of a terrain it seems.

Branson was in off season mode of course.  That helped if with nothing more than the lack of congestion for responders.  But doesn't Kimberling City have a big bass tournament in late February?  If that was the same time don't want to think about the army of boats on trailers or loosely on the water just sitting out there to get knocked around.

Yes, Kimberling Inn, where our condo is, is a popular place for bass tourn. take-offs and weigh-ins all season.  There was a big Stren tourn. in progress when this storm hit and I understand they were near or at full occupancy at the complex, which I think is in the neighborhood of 1,000.  I guess there were numerous boats destroyed.

Bad enough to be there on your own in the middle of a storm.  But to be a willing volunteer to the festivity would just wreck a guy's whole fishing season....

We're OK! Friday around lunch twister passed about a block from our house lost power for about 15 hours but we had no damage but others were not as lucky. Wife and I watching trees bending. Hope everyone is OK.

Storm hit about 1/2 mile from my house (Piner KY).  No damage at my house but it's a disaster right down the road.  It's something you just can't believe until you see it.  Friend of mine was building a 44 x 64 garage and it was leveled, might be able to use some of the lumber but pretty much a loss.  I was on the way home when on the radio they were saying if you live in Piner get to the basement now, my wife was working from home and heard the warnings so she and the lab hit the basement.  She said our pine trees out from were completely bent over.  The storm went throught the back part of my property and then started it's devistation.  2 people were killed and lots of homes were lost.  Don't mess with mother nature.

We had a lot of bad thunder storms, wind, some hail, alot of tornado's warning, Several formed between here and Chattanooga but by the time they got to Knoxville they would go north or south of us, I know a lot of people have been thru Tellico Plains, TN on your way to the Dragon or the Skyway, that town took a very hard hit a lot of damage.

Hacksaw, Have yiu heard if they found the 5 yr. old over around London, Sat. morning on my way back from Cincinnati that they had not.

didn't hear about that one.  The wife made up about 50 lunchmeat sandwiches, had chips, and apples,  then we paicked coolers with pop, water, gatorade and beer.  Drove around and gave it out to whoever wanted it.  It's a reality check to see the damage, wife cried the whole time, people were so grateful.  Got rid of everything except some of the pop, of the course the beer was a hit.  Pulled into one driveway and was offering out the food and the owner came out, probably a 65 year old, he told me the church had just stopped by and dropped off some hot meals, I told him to go ahead and take more for later.  The guy broke down and started crying thanking me and saying how everyone has been so helpful, made the little bit we did well worth it.  Will post some pic's I took on the road just down from my house, and this road wasn't the hardest hit.  Last night coming home from helping a friend it was like driving through a war zone, nothing left but a foundation, American flag stuck in the ground in front yard and people standing by a bon-fire, some sites I will never forget.
