According to the dealer he is giving me under msrp for the grey/ black bike. They are adding $900 for frieght and set up. The delta is the value of the 2010. Called a 2nd dealer and they wanted 14K plus my bike.. If the Citris was on the floor for the 8k I would have it home now. The black is a stunning bike and I am thinking about it but I have a black heritage in the garage.. My 2010 is still looking pretty dam good to me. Maybe I'll just buy tee shirt.
MSRP is $32,669.00, and freight is $380.00, for a total MSRP of $33,049. The extra $520 they tacked on for "prep" is a bullchit charge. They are already compensated for the little bit of "prep" they do by Harley, and they have a built in profit of approximately $6k at MSRP without the bullchit prep charge or any other fee's they might add later.
btw, I think I mentioned in the other thread that trade-in on the 2010, according to the book values I could find, would be in the $21k to $24k range, and retail book would be in the high $20's. Assume you pay full MSRP for the 2012, and they give you low book for your trade, and that would put you right around the $11k difference they quoted. They stand to make at least $11k profit on the complete transaction assuming they sell the 2010 for average retail book. And then of course you get to do the pipes and tune and other customizing that you already have done on the 2010. If you spend that money with the dealer as well, these folks should be treating you like a long lost best friend.
As Midnight Rider mentioned, you can't take it with you. As long as it won't keep you from paying your bills, or get you thrown out of the house, do what will make you happiest.
