Hey JR and all who've installed the Fox Leather Heavy Duty windshield bag

http://www.foxcreekleather.com/107-windshield-bags/679-heavy-duty-dash-bag.

When I installed mine today I notice a big gap between the inner and outer faring.  That's even with getting the windshield moulding screws really tight. You could easily drop a penny, probably two in the gap.  It definitely will leak a lot of water, which I'm not thrilled about, so I took it off.  Has anyone noticed this, or have a solution?  Is this a concern for anyone else?

Whoow! :o Not mine! You couldn't get a frog hair in between the inner and outter fairing on mine! :huepfenlol2: Wonder if perhaps the hole on the bag wasn't in the boss and and was on the slotted section...Something doesn't sound right. Sorry! :-\ I will get a picture of mine when I get home.

Hi JR,

Well I think it was. I actually had to make the slot wider in the plastic piece so I could slide it down through the boss.  I had it pushed down as far as I could get it.  You can't really see but I would assume the boss was in the circular cutout in the plastic.  Maybe I'll try it again and pay specific attention to that.  I like the bag, just didn't like the big gap.

I loosened the three screws on top and the two in the inner fairing where I could see a little better. Slid the bag down and when it went around the boss I definately could tell. Tightened the screw until it went flush. Do not force it in with the screws. If you have to force it something ain't right and you will be sorry! Do not over tighten them screws, it can break off the plastic boss's. Good luck! :2vrolijk_21:

Received the Fox Creek  Heavy Duty Dash Bag today . After installation there is a 1/4" gap between the inside  of the windshield and the dash .  Returning to Fox Creek tomorrow . To-bad , it's a nice looking bag .

Geez....I hope I don't have that problem with mine.   :'(. It's sitting out in the garage still in the box.  Gonna install it in the next couple weeks.

Gosh I don't know whats going on unless they changed something since I got mine. All I can say is be sure the big hole is in the center boss when you tighten it up. Mine is tight! :nixweiss:

I tried mine again last night and I still have the gap problem.  The fairing boss is definitely through the hole in the bag's tab.  What appears to be the issue is the bag's width and stiffness cause it to interfere with the curvature of the windshield.  It definitely pushes against the windshield when everything's together.  Do yoy have the stock windshield installed?  I think it would work with a different windshield with less curvature in that area, but not with the stock one.  Anyway thats my two cents, and now I have a bag for sale.

It is not just you Live2Ride57. I have the same situation with my bag . I don't know why it works on other bikes but not mine/yours ?  I removed the stock windshield ,installed bag and still had the gap. So the shield is not  causing the problem , it's the stiff plastic mounting board .
