As I read the responses in this thread I think we all have ideas for improvement and they are all valid too.   Now let me run this by you.  What would you think if the Motor Company offered a true custom built bike that you would go to the dealer and basically build and order a bike like "you want it" with a variety of colors, patterns, graphics, accessories, seats, wheels, etc. and could have it built and delivered in 45 to 60 days from reciept of order. Would we as consumers be willing to pay a premium to have a bike this way.  I would!!.   This may be a logistical nightmare for a manufacture and would have limitations on the numbers of units produced.

Just curious what your thoughts may be.

Thanks

The garage is already full of the best they had to offer from the last few years.

Some kind of special paint job on a bike or two, and that's about it.  Probably the 103 in all bikes, but not the 110.  No 120R from the factory unless it's modified to meet EPA standards, and then it's not really a 120R any more.

Who has actually tried the new front fork suspension HD offers?  Nobody here that I'm aware of.  I wouldn't hold my breath over "cutting edge" suspension from HD on either end.

They'll never do a "build your own" bike...they can't even put the right parts on all the CVO line, so how could they be expected to do a custom bike?

For some reason this question reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw a few years ago. "Same Sh*t....Different Day"  ;D

However, as riders we reserve the right to go crazy when the MOCO changes one or two new colors and adds a new anniversary tank badge!!

I disagree. Park a 2000 Screamin Eagle Road Glide beside a 2012 Screamin Eagle (pick your bagger) and go over the differences. CHANGES that we've all welcomed. Greatly improved brakes, a bigger engine, 6-speed trans, much better frame geometry, improved electronics and so on. Sure, there's room for improvement. There will always be in any production vehicle. The best of everything there is to be had costs more money than the prognosticators at H-D Inc feel we the consumer are willing to pay. So we buy what they offer and we modify to our particular taste. Those things that we all seem to change do eventually find their way into the design and engineering studios at H-D Inc. We all bought Tru-tracks (and similar devices) because of frame issues and low and behold H-D made major frame changes. We all bitched to the high heavens about the standard single piston brakes and lo and behold we got dual piston brakes and then Brembo calipers and ABS. So things do change. And in 12 years since H-D 1st trumpted the orginal Screamin Eagle model H-D they've changed a lot. But we live in an age of instant gratification. We want what we want and we want it now. H-D has never and will never move that quickly. Patience mi amigos y amigas, patience.

Terry's riding metric (or was the last time I knew) but his heart resides in Milwaukee WI or York PA depending - - - -

You gotta factor that in when he gets to going on this subject
