With the ghost pipe, I'd be looking at around $1,000, but I'd sell my used exhaust system locally, and would get most of that cost back ($750-$800 in the Cdn market).
The dyno tune at JD's Cycle Works is $450.00, plus the cost of him installing the pipe, as I would have it shipped to him.
Although my bike runs very well, my goal would be improved low end, less throttle lag, and after having the dyno tune, I'd know the bike would be running the best it possibly could. Less throttle lag would be accomplished by the tune, plus I have the impression a good 2-1 spools up the engine quicker for better response.
I think I may be justifying doing the dyno tune, by adding a performance mod to the bike because I don't want to just get the tune, then an exhaust later, and have to get it re-tuned. Just trying to kill two birds with one stone, if I'm making any sense.
I thought about doing a drop in cam along with the tune, but I think I'd be better off doing a whole engine performance/freshening up in a year or two. What I mean is if I were to do cams, it would be better to add the .030 gaskets but then the heads have to come off. Well, if the heads are off, I may as well do the headwork, and since the heads are off, I may as well pull the jugs to re-hone and re-ring, etc, etc.
