Anyone run True Duals anymore?
« on: May 11, 2012, 06:03:06 PM »

Ok, let me preface this by saying, I'm not trying to start any argument here on 2-1 VS 2-1-2 VS True Duals, I'm just looking for information.

With this whole X pipe craze, is anyone running true duals successfully anymore, especially on a CVO, and if so which set?

I just like the way True Duals sound, I barely ride with the wife anymore, ride solo 90% of the time, so "even if" I give up a little power on the low end, shouldn't be that big a deal to me. I just can't see the low end being worse than stock with true duals, and these stock 110's have cams in them as is.

So let's hear it, V&H, Dragos, Rush, Cobra, etc.

Thanks

I had a set of Vance and Hines True Dresser Duals on my 110 and I could never get it tuned correctly.  I think that V & H puts the 02 sensors in either a bad angle or a bad location that they are not getting a correct reading.  I tried 3 different tuners: Revolution Performance (the best), Power Commander (second best) and Screamin Eagle Pro Race Tuner (at the very bottom).  I was going to switch exhaust and go with a 2-1 or 2-1-2 but I traded bike's instead.

This is what I have been digging up, I was thinking Rush or the Dragos because they're ceramic coated and have both sets of bungs.

Ok, you got some options, but if you want to keep your o2 sensors in the correct area you are really limited.
The older pipes will fit ,but, IMO your sensors will need to be further away from the exhaust ports.
I LIKE my duals on my older bike, but it's carb'd and no sensors. Runs like a raped ape!

the dyno charts done lie - true duals make more power up top, but less torque 2000 to 3000 rpm - right where 90% of riding is.

on older carbed bikes guys claim they got them to run really right - they always sound right

but older carbed bikes dont have as much power as the new bikes to start with

so - who knows what the truth is

for 2000 to 3000 is hard to beat stock

I hear you, just can't see how the low end could be worse then stock when upgrading and doing a tune, on a bike with 255's in it.

Would be great if I could find a dyne from someone running Franks TD's..........

I have a 2010 Se Ultra. Running Rinehart extreme true duels with the 4 inch cans. Great sound, Great look, Nice easy install and the bike is making 116 fpt  Way stronger than stock in any RPM range. Love my pipes. Oh, using Power Commander 5 for the tuning so no need for O2 sensors.  Bike runs perfectly, starts right away, no flat spots or hesitation. I would use the same pipe again if I was shopping.  Cheers.

I like the rineharts, but there's a certain set of slip-ons I want to try and just looking for a good true dual header pipe.

Thanks
