I tune myself!
So it costs me nothing more then the tuner price.

And I wasn't telling you not to buy cams, its your money.
Most people love them as I did in my other bikes.

I was just saying how happy I am with how the bike runs with factory cams and a good tune (or what i think is a good tune.)
I will not be changing cams anytime soon, thats for sure.
Also, bike runs fine, not overheating, pinging, and was setting at several lights in town today at well over 80 with no problems.

P.S.  Would changing cams even come to mind if every one wasn't doing the same.
HMMMMMMMMMMM, makes ya wonder. HUH.

LOL

A little jumpy there huh brother. No need to get so defensive. Lucky you you tune yourself, the rest of us don't have that luxury.

I'm not doing anything because someone else does it, I already stated previously in the thread what my concerns and issues are. You like the 255's good for you. You liked them on all your bikes great, you also stated your last engine took a crap at 18K miles, did the cams have anything to do with that?

And you're right it is my money!  :2vrolijk_21:

Lmao,

You call me defensive.
I said I had other cams in my other bikes, including when the motor crapped out. Not the 255's
That is the biggest reason for not changing them.
Didn't think I would like the factory cams.
Then I drove it for awhile and like them.

And I guess you didn't see the LOL at the end.

And the part you put ( And it is my money)
WOW, that wasn't defensive either.

Any how, I do wish you luck with which ever cam you choose, there are so many.
I ran S&S and prob would not use them again, just not right for my needs.

I am by no means a tuner but I can imagine with TTS software a different (Non-emmission) tuning scheme can have a 110 running pretty sweet. Would not be my choice but certainly would not be entirely wrong either and the low end grunt guys would like it a lot.
Secret is the timing. It needs more. The heat then drops. With the heat timing compensation tables when the temps warm up then they can be adjusted to pull back. It needs a lower cruise AFR. Same; heat drops.
All of these factors are adjustable in the TTS, now to find the right individual that understands those tools and is not training is another problem

Yea Dewey, I am no pro at the tuning thing.
I do my best.
I use the race tuner, not the tts only because I'm used to it.
I did lower cruise afr a couple times to get it at a comfortable temp with good mileage.

Also, played with VE tables till it felt good and bumped the timing foreword in some place, not all.

Had to adjust fuel back on WOT as it was loading the motor.

It feels pretty good to me now, will see how it feels in July.

Fire-Medic,

FYI,

You have one of the best tuners in the country in Florida in Doc (http://www.docsperformancetuning.com/index.html) who is a master in the TTS. If I lived in Florida, that is who I would be calling for advice and going to for my cams and tune.

I am also looking for cams. The Cycle Rama and the Woods already mentioned here are on my list. There is also a new cam by Andrews (57H) that is on my list and will be available in early June. I spoke with Gary @ Andrews and this cam should be on your list if you are looking for low end torque/grunt up to 5,000-5,200 rpm. He sent me the specs which I can forward to you if you like.

Happy cam hunting! :)

Yeah I saw the specs and a dyne sheet of them over on HTT. The issue right now if you want to call it that is the backorder on TTS units and a deadline that could or couldn't be met.

I have used a Power Vision in the past but trying to find someone local who tunes with it has been a task as well because it's so new. We'll see what happens.

I would think if a person were proficient with SEPST, and/or TTS, and/or PV, and/or damn, that one from Michigan always escapes me... that they'd be able to easily use any of the others since they all have similar functionality.  Obviously, one is the best not so much for its current availability but for what all it can do easily and well.  The largest difference between them is the software interface.

There are many folks who are capable with all the tuners but some choose to only tune with a certain brand.

I have the Cyclerama 575 cams in my '08 Springer, and am very happy with them.
I got a good power increase with civilised manners.. no noise.

Have you looked at the Woods TW-9BG?
The Dyno sheet on their website looks just right...

I decided that for the time being, will just do the stage 1, when I get back from my trip to the Dragon I will evaluate things and see if I feel the need or desire to tear into the motor.

My pipes and T-Max were ordered yesterday.
