Leaving Cortez the next morning we headed towards Telluride.  Our first stop was Delores, Co. another interesting little town.

It was our first introduction to the Galloping Goose.  There were seven of these things made in Ridgeway, Co.  This one looks like a school bus with an old locomotive engine.

And the chain drive didn’t escape me…..

A little more of Delores….

Get on the bus, Gus……..

Bar keep….set em up!

Those at the back would probably be very warm…….those at the front were probably very cold.

JC, Colorado is breathtaking  :2vrolijk_21:  I have got to put this trip on my "bucket list "  ::)

All of western Colorado is beautiful however, it's the southwest corner and the Four Corners area (Monument Valley included) that are my most favorite area.  We spent five days in this area and never rode the same roads twice.  Just a really great time! :2vrolijk_21:

Great lookin' trip JC! Looks like a little something for everyone including the Eskimos! Took the ride from Cortez to Telluride last year and remember that canyon road (145) well. One of the purdiest rides I've been on. Taking it again this year in the other direction. Thanks for sharing another great ride report!

I agree, JC...that Southwestern quad of CO is spectacular.  Lot's of 13 and 14K peaks.

That's nice through there Marty, just to short.  The roads to ride are going north and south.....  Colorado Hwy. 149,  145/62 and US 550 (the million $ hiway).  Those three roads are like an all day sucker! :2vrolijk_21:

Our next stop…..Telluride.  I’ll go back to this town again, someday.  Hopefully in the winter in a 4x4…..spend a night or two….maybe put the boards on and hit the sloap for a couple of runs.

Bike shop in the summer, ski shop in the winter….

Interesting concept……leave it if you have it….take it if you need it….free.  Of course this concept would never work in Sacramento (or any other city)….there wouldn’t be anything left to take.

The main street was being repaved so it created some challenges for me ( a whole lot of standing around waiting for construction equip. and trucks to move out of my way) to try to get the best pics I could get….

Each block in this town has a small strip park in it with benches, water features, art, etc.

Odd motor home (I assume)……only has two windows.  Maybe it’s from IKEA.
