For some reason, people now think they must remain in incessant, constant contact with all the people who they think they need to be in touch with. It's BS. Being a slave to whatever communication device is ill advised, IMO.
I will check my cell phone when I stop for gas, if I remember to do so. I do have it paired with my GPS just to know if a call is incoming and who it is. Unless it's a family member, most everyone else gets ignored until I feel like I want to talk to them...and even family members know not to call me unless it's important.
The texting thing is becoming even more of an issue than just talking on the phone. Put an 18 year old in a 3,000 lb cage with a smart phone, and it's a recipe for eventual disaster to someone. The only way to stop it is to start ticketing them, but it's hard to catch.
