If you read the other threads that are listed, you'll see that the Cobra CVT has not been received well here.  Unfairly, IMO.  They're both a HUGE improvement over stock.

I let my tuner talk me into replacing my Cobra Powrpro with a TTS Mastertune.  My bike hasn't been dyno tuned yet, so I don't know how well it will actually work compared to the Cobra.  But so far, the TTS wasn't worth the money to change.  Plus, I have to pay for a dynotune now.

So far, I'd have to say that the Cobra Powrpro works just as well as the TTS with a canned program.  If that's all you're looking for, get either one.  They both seem to have quirks.  The Powrpro had a "wandering" idle, the TTS has a smoother idle.  The Powrpro seemed to have better throttle response, the TTS slightly better gas mileage.  The Cobra had some occasional decel popping, the TTS backfires (which I'm sure can be tuned out).  So we'll see after it gets dynotuned.

If the Cobra had any adjustability, it would be cheaper (and perform about as good) in the long run than the TTS.  But it doesn't, so that's a moot point.

The real advantage of the TTS over the Cobra isn't performance.  I called Cobra a couple times, and they didn't have anyone who would answer any questions.  Completely useless, with zero support.  On the other hand, if you have any issues regarding the TTS, you can come to several forums and get any question answered.  I put a lot of value on how I'm treated by a company after I give them my money.  I don't think I'll ever buy anything from Cobra again because of the lack of customer support that I experienced.

Good luck!

IMO, if your tuner recommended a product won't he stand behind it?
If you buy a product from one of the vendors on here you can be pretty sure of great customer support!
The debate over what tuner is best boils down to what is best for THAT customer.
Add-on devices can and do work for some. On the other hand, some of us want the best tool, and the steep learning curve with that product is a "challenge" that we look forward to.
Some of my friends ride bone stock bikes, some will NEVER be done messing with them!
All about what YOU want.

"thanks for the info"

You're welcome.

Uh oh.  I think that I wasn't clear about what I was trying to say.  I had the work done by one of the vendors here, Hd Dude, and his work is excellent.  Because of my work schedule, we weren't able to schedule the dynotune before I had to leave town.  Jim (HdDude) definitely stands behind his work.

The point I want to make is this:  The Cobra Powrpro works about as well as the TTS Mastertune with a canned map.  I'm excited to see what it's going to run like after the dynotune.  When I wrote it wasn't worth the money to change, I meant that there wasn't much difference in performance with a canned map.

OK, now that we have THAT cleared up, IMO I think I would go all the way with your new TTS, getting the proper tune, etc.
As an example:
I just had a club member here buy the "stage 1" setup from another vendor here, who also sent along a map to use.
This member is NOT a wrench by any means, but, I could hand him the tools and he installed the parts and we downloaded the emailed map sent.
This was last sunday. A week later he says he is perfectly happy with the "canned" map sent.
He has no plans to do a dyno session, this upgrade met HIS goals.
MY goals were different, and my 103 has seen the dyno 3 times. That's me!
I like the idea of closed loop, I run crap gas sometimes on the road, it happens.
My bike runs very well and does what I want it to do.
The piggy back devices just didn't call out to me. Not to say they don't work for some. Just personal preference.
If Jim sold you on any parts/devices, I'm pretty sure he will do what it takes to satisfy your goals. That's the beauty of people on this site!
Many of us has bought parts just to have them NOT work as expected. You educate yourself the best you can and take the plunge.
It will be interesting to see how your upgrades finally work out. Be patient, your bike, too, can be a great runner.

A "canned" calibration is more likely than not to never have more than just a chance of being acceptable while the Cobra unit will always "polish" things at least somewhat.  But I'd put money on a "canned" calibration with a few v-tune runs as always providing the most satisfaction between the two devices.  Since the cost between the two is then negligible, the better setup has to be the TTS.

Dave first off welcome to the site. When you get a chance you should stop by the New Member Introduction and introduce yourself.

There are currently several threads on the board regarding that tuning device (which are listed below) and I merged your post with the most recent thread.
