Question on Progressive Monotube Kit for 03FLHRSEI2
« on: June 09, 2012, 08:26:47 AM »

Re: 03 FLHRSEI2
OK, I know I need Progressive 12" 440s for the rear, P/N 440-4050C. I will also look at 914s for the rear.

For the front end, do I want the Lowered Mono Tube Kit, P/N 31-2508 OR the Standard Mono Tube Kit, P/N 31-2500

I am headed to Laconia Bike Week on Monday and plan on a Front and Rear Progressive Shocks upgrade.

Thanks

There is no requirement Dennis.  Simply your choice as to how you want the bike set.  On mine I used the standard height 31-2500 kit and stock height 13" shocks in the rear.  The bike clears everything a little better, does not look "high" and the suspension feels better with a bit more travel.

I just did the stock height set up on mine  two days ago. Rides great and was rather simple to do.

"Look" is subjective.  What is for me might not be for you.  Especially with what is really such a small visual difference.  Take a look and see what you think.  This is with standard height (31-2500 Progressives) in the front and rear (330mm Bitubo shocks).

It's just the stock nacelle John.  With HD's visor style trim ring hanging on the front of it.

I always think it looks longer than normal.  Some trick of the eye with all color I think.  But it's all normal HD parts.

OK, You have talked me into the standard height Monotubes Kit in front and the 13" Shocks in the rear.
Less bottoming out on ME and NH roads is a good thing.

Question: Do I have to do anything else differently for using the Stock Monotube front kit?
How did MoCo get my 03 SERK 1" lower, with shorter springs?

I am reading the instructions from Progressive for the lowered progressive Monotube kit

Quote

Lowered Monotube Cartridge Fork Kit 1997-2010 Harley Davidson FLH/FLT

This kit is designed to lower a standard FLH/FLT fork
either 1” inch or 2” inches. Some models, such as SE or
CVO models, have a 1” inch shorter fork from the factory

for these models the installation of the 1” inch configuration
would maintain the original height and the 2” inch
configuration would only lower the fork 1” inch from it's
original length.

Thanks

Anyone know which HD Fork Oil is 10wt?

Looking at the Progressive MonoTube Kit installation and it states 5oz 10wt Fork oil each side.

I see HD has a "B", "E" and "SE" Fork Oil. None of them mention the weight.

Thanks
