The downside is your spots will be on when your ignition switch is in the accessory position, unless you switch them off, of course.

True.  But I rarely have my ignition in the Acc position for any length of time.  And easy to see that the spots are on and just turn them off at the switch.  A minor inconcenience for the added illumination the spots provide.  And I like to ride with my high beam headlight on during the day time.  So great to be able to do so and have spots on also.  Anything that makes it easier to be seen.   :2vrolijk_21:

HD will not do this at the factory because it's illegal in many states.  However, you can always turn the spots off to get buy inspections and perhaps sneak it by, depending on if you get a Richard Head inspector or a nice person.  In Alabama...whut inspections?

In the "old days"  ;)  we had to splice the wiring.
haha not in Va, all lights have to work and be tested in good ol Va. depend on the shop and when they were last checked by the inspection police.
I went round and round over the ol KC lights i had on my old 77. They had to work so they worked, then they wouldn't pass it do to another law that states no lights above the headlights is legal. so I unhooked them. then back to they had to work. hahaha anyway took the hole light bar off the truck left 6ft of cables hanging out the top of the cab and it passed. hahahaha. gotta love Va

That harness, in addition to the LED headlamp and auxiliary lamps, has proven to be one of the most useful modifications I have done to my bike. I pulled the fairing, don't see how you could do everything you need to do and not. There is another harness that keeps the garage door opener and cigar lighter functional that needs to be installed, at least on  my 2007 model, that you can't get to without pulling the fairing.

You have a part# for that one?

I didn't need to pull the fairing off on the '04 SEEG as you just reach up on the rt. side of the ign. switch and pull the wiring out a tad and it plugs right in and you push the wiring back up....piece of cake.  This was really needed after adding the MoCo LED headlight and running lights since the low beam was insufficient during daylight and now I can run the high w/ running lights and the cages can see me coming. (not that they will stop pulling out into you....but it's a good mod.)  Thirty bucks well spent. :xyxthumbs:  har.  spyder

Right off HD's website: '06-'10 FLHTCUSE models require Harness P/N 71628-04.

This one re-routes the circuitry to the cigar lighter and GDO when installing the HD LED's.

I installed Harley's jumper harness this weekend, works great.
LED headlights are ordered, I can't wait for that upgrade :)

Installed one a couple of weeks ago. Simple install. Now I just need to convert my spots to LED to match the headlight.

Do you have to take the fairing apart to install the harness?  :nixweiss:

I added the plug while I was changing the handle bars, so no it didn't take very long. I believe you can get to it from the lower fairing, or maybe removing the headlight.
