That overpriced Eglide Goodies brace sure looks like the unit that came on the old HD dressers. Late '80' s or early '90's, I know I have seen them before, seems to me HD replaced the "Brace" with the fixed length wire, which we all hate.

Overpriced is relative...I can't make the brackets that holds it in place, nor can I find that hinge.... Ordered it and got home in just a few days, easy install video...no worries now with the t-pak lid...  Sounds like good value to me ;)

Mine is on the way....and I'm babying that 'ID tag retractor' of a lid tether 'til the Ultra Brace is installed. I don't think the price is too bad, considering the damage it may prevent.....and I'm not interested in the time for a trial and error fabricating job, either.

WOW,,,    As much as this Fourm has pushed the Ultra Brace, (and other items) One would think EglideGoodies should offer a handsome commission to this sites owner..   :nixweiss: or a least a freebie Ultra Brace   :P   :2vrolijk_21:

Received the Ultra-brace on Friday and installed today.  Easy install - didn't have to modify the liner on the tour pack at all.  It's nice to not to have to worry about the retractable cable breaking.  Lid doesn't open quite as far now,  but it in no way affects or limits any access.  I may follow up with the pop rivets to make it look a bit nicer.

Just got back from a 3k road trip Sunday.  First trip since installing the ultra brace and you know how often you go into that tour pak on a long trip.  The ultra brace made it a pleasure.  Opens easily and stays up locked in place.  Great product and great value for the benefit it offers.   :2vrolijk_21:

Brian, even without the potential of the breakage the ultra brace is a huge improvement over the tether.  With either style tether the tour pak lid must go past vertical so it will stay open.  With the ultra brace it locks just shy of vertical.  So even if there were a problem with the brace (which I doubt) the lid would drop closed vs going over all the way open.  I guess you can tell I really, really like this product. :2vrolijk_21:

I used rivets also. Looks much better than the screws.

What are these rivets you speak about?  Sounds like a special tool is involved.

Who wants to install mine at MV? :)
