Can anyone on this ite state the diffrence between new 6 spd cruise drive and the SE 6 speed trannies. I ahve the SE6 speed ina 05 SEEG and love it gets me 85 at 2900 RPM and 90 at 3100 RPM but was wondering if the new Cruise Drive provides the same performace mph v rpm as the SE6 does. I am considering trading my seeg but do not want to loose the value of my speed in performance on a new bike as I love 90 at 3100 RPM

One quart was for the primary, then the 24oz for the tranny...they must have spilt the other quart... :)

I forgot about the primary, but as you mentioned there still is some extra fluid (quart) somewhere. [smiley=confused5.gif]

[smiley=nixweiss.gif]  My humble opinion....I had the Screaming Eagle six speed gears installed in my 2003 Road King at the same time I had the engine stroked to 103....as stated previously when riding with the five speed tranny I always wanted to shift up one more time.  On the highway I felt like I forgot to shift to 5th, but was always already in 5th.

New six speed, 103 engine..ready to go....have to be doing 70 - 75 plus to feel comfortable in 6th gear...engine seems to be lugging at anything below 70 miles an hour.

2006 SE Ultra... operates smoothly with the stock 5 speed.  I would not change it to a six speed.  As a matter of fact I just had my 2003 Road King converted to a trike for my wife and had the six speed removed and replaced with a five speed (mainly because there is not a reverse kit for the six speed0, even though it will be out soon, I decided to change back to a five speed.  The convertor swapped trannys out with me.

Now I am gun shy....I have a Red/Black SE Ultra on order that will be in in November....I really do not want a noisey 5th gear!!!

Since you are going to be in the primry you might as well swap out the inner primary for a chrome inner primary as the labor charge is the same. This is a mistake I made when I swaped my gear set out over the winter. Learn from others mistakes it saves you alot of cash.

Good point about the chrome inner.

I can't really tell you the difference, but  I can tell you that I'm at 2800rpm at 80 and 3100 at 90. So gearing wise it seems to be the same.

Rsantucc,

The overall gear ratio (primary x trans x final) in top gear on the SE 6 speed is 2.80:1, the Cruise Drive is listed as 2.79:1 - for all intents and purposes they are identical.  I'm not sure about the ratio's in the lower gears, but I would expect them to be similar as well.

My curiosity got the best of me, so I looked up all the overall gear ratio's:

I appreciate the input here and suggestions.  I've had the local dealer order a 6 speed tranny for me.  The cover plate for the hydralic clutch was another bite that I wasn't expecting.  They tell me that it could be 2 to 3 months getting the items in from the MOCO.  After the install, I'll probably have a 5 speed to offer.  If anyone out there is interested, let me know.

It comes with the "Tranny" as well as a new primary chain and tensioner.  Had to spend an extra $110.00 on a "Baker" module that  compensates for the larger front sprocket to re-calabrate the speed-o-meter...
