The "BIG VALLEY" from the tv-serie, with Barbara Stanwyck, Lee Majors and others?

The Big Valley that you mentione.....from the TV series is the big valley here in California.  The Sacramento/San Joaquin Valley.  Where it reaches 110-112F in the summer months and below freezing in the winter months.

Great pictures you're posting Simon!  Looks like you're having a great ride.  We all stopped at that same road side rest area that you labeled the big valley, when we were all in Colorado a couple months ago.  Incredable view from that overlook.

Hey Simon....Great pics ..could you please remove the HJC sticker from the front of your helmet I find it distracting from an otherwise perfect head shot  displaying your obvious chiseled good looks.. not to mention the scenery behind you. ;D

Chiseled! Man that's been many many moons and pounds ago.

Kiwi, most of those scavenger shots are just a quick opportunity because I spotted something along the road. A quick pull over, take a few shots and bang away. It's kind of tough when you are running solo. The picture with the Hog was the only one where I got a second party to take a picture for me.

Hope you're enjoying the rest of the pictures.

SCAVENGER ALERT! - We were barely outside of Steamboat Springs and Gabe starts shouting, "Engines, Engines". I look around  but the only engine I see or hear is my own 110. "Gabe, what are you squawking about?" .. Gabe points off the side of the road. "Oh Gabe, that's a TeePee but I don't see any Indians."

The scenery in NW Colorado and SW Wyoming is pretty sparse and most of nearly 400 miles looked pretty much the same. Not a great day for scenery but a wind full day and a windfall day for the scavenger hunt.

West of Rock Springs, WY on I-80, the scenery starts to look reminiscent of Utah but it's still Wyoming.

When the natural gas containers and solar driven pumps start to look interesting you know you're in the middle of nowhere special.

SCAVENGER ALERT! - When you're in the middle of nowhere what would you expect to find? How about a town with a population of less than 100. Welcome to Opal (Oh Pal) - Population 96

Notes: Kids don't try this at home. Two lane road, heavy with semis, state troopers and barely a shoulder to pull over on. I got the picture on my first attempt, thank goodness!.

A hint of green along the roadside promises better scenery in our future as we approach the Star Valley in Wyoming.

SCAVENGER ALERT! - Surprise, surprise .. I didn't really figure on spotting a totem pole during my trip but here it is in all it's avian glory.

Starting to descend into the Star Valley, green things will be coming our way tomorrow.

Life's not all about scenery. This was the Prime Rib Special at Hegg's Grill and Steakhouse in Aftron, WY my destination for tonight.

DH, nice commentaries on the Scavenger Alerts.  Sometimes it helps to be Two Up :huepfenlol2:, Gabe is doing a great job as a spotter, I would not speak very clear either if I had an antenna up my a$$ :bananarock: :bananarock:.  The tee pee and totem are one or the other, but great pic none the less and you got 2 of them in the pic.  No no extra credit, there's only one way for the extra credit, feathers or beads baby!!!! Grip it and twist it, see you soon.  Let's Roll
