Good point, D00d, but....in their defense (since we love to defend the greedy mothership), they did include a 'coin' which is kinda neat in that it is supposedly limited to initial buyer and therefore highly 'collectable'.  Of course, I'd rather have my CVOHARLEY coins.  :-* har.  spyder
A $40,000 coin that will one day be worth, if your lucky, $5.00.  Yep, highly collectable. :znotworthy: :huepfenlol2:

So $35k for a bike and entry into the museum for me and a few friends.  How much is a ticket without the bike? LMAO!!!

I'll keep my '12 and buy a ticket to the museum if I ever get up there.  Been to the York plant but not Milwaukee and a gold coin ain't gonna get me up there any sooner... :bananarock:

Ok, I stand correct.  I just posted information I down loaded from their web site.

I think I would rather have the Key than the Coin, but who knows.  I have the gold key from my 03 fatboy, my 09 CVO and my 12 CVO.

Not likely I make it to the Museum in 13, I was there in 11, and then again in 12 as my wife wanted to go.

I have confirmed with Harley Davidson that there will be No Gold Key.  Here is the email they sent me.

There was indeed a late change to the 2013 CVO owner package. The 2013 CVO owner package includes a CVO Collector Coin (which replaced the key) and CVO Gold H-D Museum Membership. The CVO Collector Coin is both model year and model specific and is only available to new model 2013 CVO purchasers. The 1-year H-D Museum Gold membership gives you unlimited visits for 2 adults plus up to 4 guests with each visit, 2 limited edition Museum dog tags, certificate for a free audio tour, 10% discount at the Motor Bar and Restaurant, Café Racer, The Shop and Online Art Shop, and more.

You should expect the H-D Museum Gold membership kit and CVO Collector coin to arrive within 4-6 weeks of your purchase.
It's been 2.5 months since I got my 2013 CVO and still no H-D Museum Gold membership kit and CVO Collector coin. Has anyone received theirs?I got my kit today, 11/30/12. Bike purchased on 09/18/12.

Had my eye on a black Road King but I'm having a hard time getting past the hardbags. May have to go RG.

I had a similar discussion with a buddy last night. I asked him why he wanted the RK when for $3K more, you get lowers and fairing, etc. with a RG

I haven't seen an anniversary model that has caught my eye yet. When I got my 08 Softail 'not a CVO' (anniversary year) I was looking forward to an anniversary edition but the colour let me down, badging did not match colour scheme, colour was very plain.

Looking at the anniversary colours over the past years there has not been one that has caught my eye, that may only be me  :nixweiss: however the custom colours are great and thats what the MOCO should be looking at for anniversary colours.

Something that has bling and stands out from the rest.

The lack of a fairing is precisely why I bought the Anniversary RK. I took a test ride on a RG and don't like the lowered bike. The fairing was an obstruction to my view of the road. I've got XM radio on my GPS and don't need am/fm/cb. This is my third RK, the first two were black. The Anniversary colors are almost black, with sun reflections from the Diamond Dust and detailing that looks like the curve in my favorite roads. The $3K I didn't spend on a fairing went toward a matching Tourpak, stock windshield, rider highway pegs, Aux. lights and turn signals. I'm taking the cruiser handlebar turn signals and mailbox windshield off the RK.

Willie G and many MoCo execs ride RGs and love them. It is personal preference.

The CVO RK and CVO RG have the same height.  They use the same 1 inch lower rear shock and same standard height front end.  The Road Glide custom is also the same height.

I can understand not liking or needing the fairing but the height confuses me.  I love the CVO RG, it is a fantastic long distance bike.  I am on my second one.  I also have the Anniversary color CVO RK, and love it.  He heck I had 1100 miles on it in the first 72 hours of ownership.

I am debating changing to a more traditional RK windshield.  The handle bar mounted turn signals have to go too.  Not sure if I will do passing lamps or not.  No tour pack as I have one for the CVO RG which will be my long distance traveling bike.

The RG I test rode was a stock 2012 RG. Maybe I'm ignoring the height because I like RKs. I did stiffen up the rear springs on my RK about 10 turns.

The mailbox windshield directs the wind right past my ears. Even a full face helmet didn't help. The noise is so loud that over 30mph the lowers mounted speakers and saddlebag speakers are useless. Now with the windshield off my 2005 RK on the 2013 CVO, the sound is very good, even at 80mph. The mailbox windshield is too low for nighttime riding when bugs come right at my mouth and are not deflected by that windshield. I've never had that problem with stock windshields. I've ordered a new one for the 13, so the 05 can be sold with a stock windshield.

My personal preference is that the handlebar mounted turn signals make the bike look like a cruiser. I don't like them on my RK. I don't like the yellow lights in my peripheral vision at night.

When I had 1500 miles on the 13 Anniversary, a dump truck must have bounced a rock onto my headlight, shattering the lens and leaving a 1/2" hole in it. Rain on the way home would have shattered the bulbs too. With the Aux. lights, I could continue to a safe place. At night on the Interstate, one headlight is not enough illumination for me. I've already put my LED headlight with daytime high beam Kisan Modulator for safety. The Harley one works on low beam and won't work with an LED headlight. On low beam, the headlight is so dim that visibility is worse than no modulator. I got a crimping tool ($30) and pin removal tool ($10) off amazon.com so I can properly wire the Aux light kit to the connector. I do have to remove the headlight nacelle to access the connector and pull the handlebar turn signal wires. I choose the Custom Aux lights 69818-06 because it includes the trim ring and wires long enough for a complete install, not the other kit that butt connects to existing wires for those that have a stock RK and want to replace stock with Custom lamps. The bullet turn signals look great under those Custom Aux lights.

I have just never liked handle bar mounted turn signals.  Nothing wrong with them, I like the bullet style, just not on handle bars.
