Screaming Eagles to resume shipping!!!!
« on: August 18, 2006, 03:02:59 PM »

Hi Everyone.
Just wanted to make my first post a good one. After numerous phone calls and e-mails to many different dealers the past few weeks looking for a black/orange screamer and having no luck due to the delay in shipping, I stopped at a dealer yesterday to inquire when they were expecting any deliveries. The sales person said that they were supposed to receive a b/o on July 22, but due to the delay, they never received it. Anyhow, she took me into her office and she called Harley to see about it. She got a huge smile on her face, and when she hung up the phone, she said "GREAT NEWS". Harley will resume shipping of all Screaming Eagles on Monday, August 21. So I did what comes natural, I grabbed my credit card and put a deposit down on the b/o. Should have it by Labor day. The next 2 weeks of waiting will be looooong!

Welcome to the site!!!!  That's a good first post, and glad to hear you're gettin' your new scoot in a couple of weeks.  It won't get long until they tell you it's on the truck, then at the dealer, then waitin' for them to do set up...you won't sleep a wink the night before the pick up, but man, the wait is going to be soooo  worth it for you.  These are awesome rides, and you're going to flip out... Congrats, but hang on to your ankles. The folks on this site consider it their sworn duty to help you spend more money than you will ever make.
It all statrs with a simple little upgrade of an A/C and pipes to get that "true Harley" sound, and before you know it, you're hooked. Next you're ordering kits from Zippers and Freedom, putting a second mortage on the house, lying to your wife, calling in sick at work ...... It's a drug, and there is no cure. It feeds on itself. Engine Mods alone aren't good enough anymore. Now you have to upgrade the stereo, add lights, different windshields, adapters that will make your Tour Pak do everything except hold luggage. Your life will spiral down into the bottomless pit of OCD.
Your friends will catch you lurking around dealerships and rallies; spying on other CVO owners to see if anyone has a piece of chrome or a mod that you have not added. Your wife will find you hunched over your computer late at night, searching the twilight zone of the internet for that one thing.....that one modification that will make your CVO the best looking or fastest or best sounding.
Be brave. You are no the first to go down this path and, rest assured, you will be followed by many others. The glistening paint and the lure of bigger engines draws you in. You are hooked as soon as the deposit is made and there's no turning back. You will be riding 2up from now on, because my friend, you have a monkey on your back. The only way to soothe the beast is to be "in the wind" every chance you get. The more miles you ride, the symptoms start to subside. Before you know it. you are at peace with your addiction. You realize that you will never be rid of this curse, but, the sweet sound of that motor and the feeling of freedom is worth the price.
Now you can be proud of you affliction. Stand with us and proclaim to the world that you are one of the few...the proud...CVO owners.
May the motorcycle world bow before you, for they know, that you have spent more money, more sleepless nights, more afternoons arguing with dealers over bad paint jobs, disappearing radio displays, bad motor mounts, leaking oil coolers .......on a motorcycle that costs twice as much as any other  motorcycle in the free world.

 Welcome to the club. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Hey Grey man, congratultions on your new ride. When you mentioned the Credit Card deal, it brought back memories of my CVO Purchase.  I had made many phone calls last Feb looking for an 06 Black CUSE. When a dealer finally called me back with the right price and location, I said Hell Yes, and as I was driving at the time, I pulled over and reached in my wallet to give the sales guy my CC #. Was very happy and never gave it another thought, until,  my employer called me a few weeks later questioning a charge to my company CC.  :-[ Insert red face here.  Seems in my haste to secure my CVO, I grabbed the wrong card and charged it to my work.  I've only been there 35 years, so they understood my mistake, but there were laughs all around at my expense.

Once, on a business trip, I accidentally used my company card to charge some yougurt, coffee, cream, banannas and some cereal, thinking it was my debit card...... duh!
