Thats a long name. I've been looking for a new 2 up seat and was debating between this one and the (much cheaper) Le Pera Maverick, but just pulled the trigger for this one from Dennis Kirk.

I never did get around to demo'ing the HD Hammock (dealer doesnt have a Sundowner demo), but thought the DG fit the bill.

I like the fact the seating surface is leather- everyone gives you vinyl except Corbin- plus the integrated Airhawk pad seems like a great idea, since everyone raves about the add on Airhawk pads. Plus, the seat looks really nice from the pics Ive seen. It comes with a nice grey stitch pattern.

I found a really nice looking used one on ebay- has grey flame overlay done in real gator and comes with the backrest, for the same price as the new one from Dennis Kirk (without a backrest), but decided to go for new since the Airhawk pad could potentially leak or have issues, and Id like to have the full warranty that comes with a new one. Plus, I wasnt sure how real gator would hold up, and the seat had 8,000 miles on it.

Ill post up a review once I get it and put some miles on it.

I've had one for ~3k miles now and really like it.  It feels very firm to start but with just a little air in the pad, 7 or 8 pumps, it feels great and absorbs bumps well.  Had an HD Hammock prior to this and was happy with it except when monkey butt set in on multi day trips, different story for the passenger though as it shifted her forward on the seat at every bump so she had to push herself back every half mile or so.  No complaints at all with the Longhaul from either rider or passenger, even on multi day trips.

Thanks for the info Jeevz. My BSR complains about sliding forward on the Corbin too, and Ive heard the Hammock does that too, like you said. The whole monkey butt thing is why I dont want vinyl- Ive never experienced it on my previous leather seats, so I think leather has its advantages.

I hope I like it. It should arrive by Wed at my US shipping place. Im going to pick it up and put it on, then I have a 2 day solo ride planned through NY and PA, so by Friday I should have an opinion on it. Really hope its the last seat I need to buy.

I don't have any pictures handy but will post a couple over the weekend.  For what it's worth, everyone who has seen it on the bike loves it - riders and non riders.  Only three issues I've noticed, none of which would make me trade it out, are that it's a little lighter in color than the stock passenger backrest so I may get the backrest recovered, it is shorter than the Hammock leaving a gap between it and the rear speaker boxes, and the nose of the Hammock seat slightly scratched the console chrome and that spot isn't covered by the Longhaul as its nose is both narrower and shorter.

Also should mention that the rider backrest for the Longhaul is much better than the non adjustable Hammock version.  Just riding around the block made me wonder why I was ever satisfied with the HD version.

I ordered just the seat for now, and plan on ordering the backrest next spring, since I don't plan on any more multi-day trips this year. Damn, for the same money that ebay one came with the small backrest too....ah, new is better I suppose.

Do you have the small rectangular rider backrest, or the round one?

DG wants a pretty penny for them too- cheapest I saw was around $235.00.

I got the large round one, DG part 1114 or DK #393127.  I thought it might look too big given the exaggerated scoop of the drivers seat but it doesn't look bad at all.  The only thing I don't like about it is that there is no way to lock it into the seat without installing a bolt/nut.  I end up just sliding it in the slot when riding and taking it out at long stops where I would have just left the HD version in place.

Could you tell me how wide the passenger pillion is? I should have looked into that before I pulled the trigger...I'm hoping it's at least 13", which I think my Dual Tour is.

Also, does the seat sit you down lower and back? It looks like it does, but probably most seats would as compared to your stock Ultra seat.

I'm pumped to go pick up the seat and test it out on my 2 day trip.

Yeah, not too many with this seat- seems like Danny Gray is a forgotten option when seats are mentioned  I'll be sure to post my impressions on it next wknd. I'll put about 600 miles on it next week after I pick it up. Actually, I'll be coming back home from NY Friday, then on Sat I'll be going right back to Rochester to a BBQ place with the BSR and a couple other bikes, so after that day trip I'll know what the BSR thinks of the seat.

I was using the HD Hammock, versus that one it is lower but not farther back.  I never measured but it feels like 1" to 2" lower and gives that "sitting in the bike" versus on it feel.

I don't have it with me but seem to remember that the pillion is 14" wide.
