Cam choice for 110?
« on: September 05, 2012, 05:08:03 PM »

Ok, so I've assembled all the parts now for my tune appointment on the 25th or Sept. for my FLHRSE5 except a cam.

I have CFR slip-ons, and Fulsac x-pipe and TTS tuner.

Which cam do you recomend for overall performance.

I only wanna do this once if possiable!!

Click on the link below and read the first post.  Since Jim put the Fueling 574 in my bike many, many of the members of this forum have gone with the same cam.  It'll make you happy weather it's out of the hole or riding across the country on a long tour. :2vrolijk_21:

Be careful as to the cam you select...you will want a bottom end torque cam not one that comes on late since you have CFR mufflers...I read somewhere here that the CFR's coupled with and x-pipe was not a good combination due to loss of low end torque...and with the CFR's...you will lose low end torque...just FYI...keep us posted of the results....

They make those right here in AZ. I have spoken with him and from what I was last told he was working on a smaller baffle for that pipe.. In the past it had issues from a performance stand point. Sounds and looks great...  We tried it with a few head pipes and nothing with cams was working well.. Large dip from the start of the run and another dip mid way.. lacking peak tq and hp..

numbers...  Have not had any further tunes with that muffler..

What is that?

Maybe I made a $600.00 mistake with the CFR's

Check out this thread,
http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=76624.msg1046716#msg1046716

It comes in a bit sooner than the Feuling 574 and runs out well for bolt in cam.   It also produces quite a bit more power.

Good luck with your build.

Yes the kurky 24 was suggested by my tuner also but they are still making modifications to it. He ordered an Andrews 57 for me. Hope this works!!!!  ;D

I have and really like the CFR look and sound. Here is the dyno chart with them. The green is CFR. The other two are fullsac 2" with x pipe. The build is hd 10.5-1 pistons 777 cams and 030 gaskets. No headwork, just cam piston install and tts tune. I have both maps, so in 30 mins I can swap slipons and remap for either sound or preference. Look and sound of the CFR is better, although a lot louder. Long rides get the fullsac for sure.. Just a look at what lots of people with any kind of build say about the CFR, not bashing them at all. Fullsac is a tough combo to beat for bolting on, no matter if it is stage 1 or 2 with his maps and products. good luck, have fun, and enjoy riding no matter what you go with!!!!

Wow,  I had been thinking about trying the CFR's on my 13 CVO.  After seeing the amount of torque they loose right where you ride, between 2300 rpm and 3300 rpm, there is no way I would get them.  That is a 20 to 25 foot pound of torque loss.

Sound is not that important to give up that much power right where my bike spends 80% of the time.
