Removing red reflector from back of bike.
« on: September 16, 2012, 05:24:03 PM »

Could someone tell me the best way to remove the little red reflector from back of 2012 sesg?It looks like if you were real carefull you could take sharp knife & cut off,but I'm afraid to try.

I used a hair dryer to heat the reflector then peeled it off.  A little rubbing alcohol took care of the remaining adhesive

You could try that if you put something behind it....or you could take the tailight assembly off and cut it that way. It's part of the base.

If things haven't changedf from 2011, the red reflector above the license plate is not held on with 2 sided tape....the reflector is part of the base of the lic. plate assy and must be cut off.

If you just loosen the plate and pull it away from the fender the reflector just falls off.  It is only held on with one of the bolts that attaches the plate to the fender.

Switch to the Yaffee stealth III license plate bracket and it will really clean up the tail and solve your problem.

I like the idea of the Yaffe Stealth plate holder....but I just can't stand that oval window.  Why the hell don't they offer it with a full-view window??
