Dealer service?
« on: August 25, 2006, 08:16:01 AM »

Last night I went to the dealer to pick up my bike. As I had explained before the front stainless steel braided brake line had been leaking and at first there was a question as to the ability of the dealer to replace it under warranty. They did replace it under warranty, I did pay extra to have the part flown in next day so that the bike didn

I would certainly make the service manager aware of the condition your bike was returned to you in.  He should want to get that type feedback.  I am sure he would find it unacceptable and give feedback to his tech.  If he doesn't want that type of feedback, I would find another service department.  If you color of the washers bothers, and it was caused by the fluid, ask for them to be replaced.  If they won't replace a few washers, again, time to a dealer more customer friendly.

Im going to give my 2 cents on the Dealer topic. I STRONGLY believe that you can find a half ass technician in almost every dealer in the country, I also think that every dealer has at least one really qualified quality tech, the answer is to find that tech. I had this exact problem with getting a master cylinder replaced under warranty. You are in the ideal situation right now, call the GM explain your issue and tell him all you want for your trouble is two words, the first and last name of the tech that works on his, the SM's, and the owners bikes Request the guy everytime, tip him andIf your results are anything like mine you'll drop your bike off with a whole lot less worry.

The parts should be changed out! You paid for overnight Shipping to hurry your service So I guess they gave you the only tech that did not have anything to do. I would ask them to change the parts out to match the orginial.

Good Luck

you are definitely NOT whining! Your expectations IMHO are correct. The replacement of those parts will reflect on service dedication of dealer. Biggest point I think is you should definitely make the service manager or owner aware of your concerns, because if they don't know its broke they sure can't fix it!

Not whining at all, they used copper crush washers on the lines instead of aluminum, both work fine but its a "attention to detail" type item. The tech that worked on your bike obviously has none as the condition he returned you bike to you in was / is unacceptable. It's all too typical of dealers these days

The gasket around the banjo bolts is a 41731-01. Does anybody know if they're available in silver/aluminum?

Yes, I don't have part numbers with me but you can get them from the aftermarket companies as well. HD also has the banjo washers that have a rubber inner washer molded to them. These with the rubber in them are silver as well.

That sounds good, my thought is that I'll get my own and bring them with me just to make sure there aren't any more issues.

Thanks,

Just make sure you get the right size, they come in 10mm and 12mm. I am not sure what size the V uses but the baggers all use 10mm at the master cylinder. There cheap enough to buy a few of each size though.....

I have the parts book here in the office but it has the part number, no sizes on the gaskets. Where is the best place for the aftermarket gaskets?
