New Freedom Performance pipes
« on: September 30, 2012, 04:49:33 PM »

Just got some new Freedom Performance true dual headers w/Outlaw slip on pipes for my new 2012 CVO RG in Reno. Was told to give ECM 300 miles to adapt but this has not happened. Its all over the place on start up and warm up and will dye 2-3 times before warm. Once warm, it does run fairly well. Had Freedoms put on my 08 FLHX has was very happy with them. Not so happy right now!

Live in California which sucks as far as laws go but laws are made to be broken. So cats are off. Buddies recommend Power Commander V (also illegal in this wonderful, over regulated, poorly managed state), which I will consider, vesus a SERT (also not street legal here). Just want to hear from others with 2012 110ci engines or any experts on what is working best. Seems the flash Freedom gave me is not right by any means. Is a PCV w/auto tuner ideal for this bike?

I know everyone has an opinion/preference, just looking for what is performing best with similar owners. Thanks All

Look into the TTS Mastertune.  It's the only device that allows you to download your stock map and replace it down the line if you wish to.  You can get a map close to your configuration and V-Tune it for a pretty damn close tune.  In addition, it allows you to calibrate the Speedo and change your blade adjustment, which the SEST doesn't do any of.

Tell me....where are the 02 sensors located on the Freedom Pipes? The outlaw baffle is a 2.5 then steps up to a 3.0 correct? If so your bike is starving for back pressure. I use (and love ) their Classic Slip-on muffler however it has a completely different baffle than the outlaw.

Fellow at Reno went with the TTS Mastertune also, have not heard from him how he likes yet.

You are correct on the Outlaw baffle, I also have Freedom Racing slip ons and the stock HD SE. That would be a quick test on the back pressure, I'll put the stock back on. Will update you. The O2 sensors are basically in the same locations, 2/3rds down the header by the tranny, they are much smaller than my 08 FLHX.

A friend of mine has them and he said they were the best head pipes on the market. Well if there i.75" pipe then there no different than any of the cross under tru duals imo. He's also removed the huge baffles and replaced with a baffle that looks like the baffle in V&H's Monster Rounds, too quiet for me. And the chrome is already peeling from his endcaps on the mufflers, about 2000 miles.

I too have a peel on my FP Racing caps (2 years) but rest of chrome is fine.

I just got my Freedom Performance 4" slip ons in Reno also. I have a 2012 SESG.  I just rode it with them on two days ago and all is fine. I've also had the cat removed on the stock exhaust. Looks, runs, and sounds awesome!!
