The dealership has a very interesting history. Greg Sassaman, the owner, took me around the whole facility after hours on a Friday night until after 9:00 PM, and told me the story of how his Father Grover Sassaman was signed up as a dealer in Indiana by Arthur Davidson himself. As it turns out, we are both drummers. Their dealer history is on their website at http://www.harleydavidsonofmacon.com/aboutus.asp. There is a great video on there, too... of an interview with Grover.

Thanks for the information and a big thanks for the link to the information on Mr. Sassaman.  That was great...sure would like to have one or two of those old HD's... :2vrolijk_21:

Macon HD added $2500 to the CVOs this year for the first time.

Every dealer in Georgia is adding 3-5k, so the $2500 is the lowest markup in the state.

They add no additional fees except for the $200 doc fee, still the lowest in the state.

A guy was in last week beating them up on a 2010 FLHX.  The guy wanted them to come off the price, wanted a $500 gift card, wanted great financing with 5% down and only so-so credit.

They came $1250 off the price and offered a $250 gift card, and found the guy pretty good financing.  He had pen in hand and demanded another $100 off or he was goint to Killer Creek in Atlanta and buying from them.

He showed back up the next day, turns out Killer Creek sprung a bunch of add ons like a $330 setup fee for used bikes, he wouldnt pay, they wouldnt back down.

He decided the deal at Macon was pretty good after all.  Too bad they sold the bike after he walked out at the asking price and no gift card or a bunch of crap off a guy who probably couldnt afford the bike in the first place.

Wow! Well, THAT makes me feel even better about the deal i got on the Honey badger... and about my suspicion that the Ts & Cs HAD probably changed on CVOs.

Maybe he'll buy the beautiful 2010 Tequila Sunrise CVO SG I have on consignment at Killer right now!

Totally agree with the "bayside" expierence.  The people that work in the OB store are great but the owner is the worst.  He doesnt care about the riders.  I am not bitching just stating the facts.  Buy somewhere else! I am looking at buying a 13 Green/gold RG.  I guess I will keep looking. Thanks for sharing your buying expierence so I can get ready for my "dance".

Anything over MSRP is a "fools charge."  Shop around and get a better deal.

What is too much, is determined by the consumer.

I agree but only from the standpoint of how many consumers are demanding the same product.  There were 4 folks in line behind me for my CVO, 3 of them cash buyers.  I know this was not "dealer manipulation", because the #1 buyer behind me came to the dealership when I took delivery to make absolutely sure I was going through with the deal, and also to actually get a look at what he had put his money down on.  My dealer was charging MSRP.  Now, I could have said, "MSRP is too much", and walked away.  One of the folks behind me would have gotten the bike instead of me.

I do agree with others in that I draw the line at MSRP and only for a CVO that is in high demand.  I dub this the early adoptor's penalty.  I could wait a year or so to pick up a used one, possibly below MSRP, but if I want it now, and I want it new, I pay the prevailing rate(as mentioned, in my case, no more than MSRP), don't worry about it, and enjoy!
