Thanks, its only 2.5 miles to the dealership.
Ive never bought a new Harley, I like to wait 4-5 years and get them 2/3 price-ish, like my 06 SEUC with 5,000 miles, well 10,000 miles now for 20k OTD In 06 that bike would have been close to 37k OTD.
Im 52 years old and have been retired for 3 years, to stay that way I have to be somewhat thrifty. The misses is 47 and has 4 years to go to get a pension at age 60, so she is even more thrifty than me.
On the other hand, there is no guarentee that either of us will be here tomorrow. Im more of a carpe diem personality, she is more of a caveat emptor personality.
Ive been looking at SERKs and I havent seen many nice used ones for sale. Often, many of the SE parts get taken off and replaced with aftermarket parts. IMO that decreases value and makes the bike less desirable.
It never hurts to look.
Likewise, but don't give up the search. You've got a huge market in Atlanta and then south in Jax, Tallahassee and Orlando. Don't stop there either, you could look West to Birmingham and Huntsville too. It would be worth the road trip to find what you want. I bought my '07 Ultra last year from LA Harley Davidson off of a Graig's List add. It's been great riding this past year for the last 15,000 miles. This bike has been flawless and fun. The only work I've had to do is to make it better. This does not decrease the value. Keep old parts if you worry about that.
I hope you dig deeper and find your dream bike. Now, more than ever, while you can get out and do what you can to enjoy life. At 61, I'm close to retiring and too have concerns for the future, but we can't ride forever and I"m gonna as long as I can. I wish you luck!
BTW: From '86-2000, I worked as a consulting engineer with AT&T (then Southern Bell aka-BellSouth) in Georgia, including Macon, but lived in Fayetteville (Atlanta) at the time. Some great roads in Georgia bro, go get em! Good luck!
This one is not a Road King, but Softail Convertibles are sweet rides too:
