Wearing the proper gear is a choice like anything else... choose not to do it and you'll have to accept the risk and consequences. Even the writer admits he'll still wear jeans, but he'll give a little more thought to wearing more if able. This was just a routine trip in town, and I like most, would probably just be wearing jeans.

I wear Jeans all the time.

From the sounds of it, this guy is more than an average rider; a weekend warrior doesn't drop almost $1K on an Aerostich Roadcrafter suit (maybe $1K in HD-branded leather products, but that is for another thread). Easy to second guess someone from limited information in a story, but as anyone who's ridden for a long time knows, as good as we think we are, sometime no matter what we do gravity and physics are ultimately in control.

X3 and amen, brother!  See rider with shorts/flipflops and passenger in shorts/barefoot ALL the time in this area of Tennessee.  I would say most of those eyediots have never been down before so don't know how it gonna hurt when dat skin hits the pavement at 70 plus MPH.
