Well... it looks like the war is starting.. :(

Tech called me and said the factory told him to box up the motor and send it to them and they (the factory) would re-manufacture the engine and send it back when they were done.

So... I called customer service and explained just how UN-HAPPY I really am with that decision and requested to talk with someone who could give me some different and better options before I decided to take the next step on my end which would give everyone more hard feelings and grief. Someone is suppose to contact me on Tuesday.

Jury is still out and I'm a waiting..  :'(

well, they're basically giving you a 'new' engine in stock form with your existing numbers in the cases......that's better than sitting a new engine in your frame w/ a different set of numbers than is on your title, isn't it?   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder
I believe that as long as they (MoCo) get the old motor (cases) back they can give him a brand new motor w/his VIN numbers stamped on it so everything will appear stock. So theoretically he could have a brand new motor not remanufactured in his bike w/existing numbers. From what I understand if your frame is damaged beyond repair and you return the neck with VIN numbers on it, they can produce another frame w/correct (old) VIN numbers to keep all the numbers correct.

Of the various alternatives available in Tank's situation, having the MoCo remanufacture the engine beats the you-know-what out of having a dealer tech on warranty flat-rate rebuild it.

Tanks gents! I will ask about a "loner" when I talk to the factory. I know thwm rebuilding it is better than the dealer doing it.. It's just that this bike is less than a year old and I hate having a re-built engine in her and also if they re-build it like new.. it didn't last 27K the last time it was new.. I'm sure not getting the warm fuzzy's here.. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Ride it and either sell it next spring or wait until this time next year and get an 08 and MOVE on and don't worry about it. "they make a NEW one everyday".

LOL, Tank!

I hope everything works out for you, man!  I am in SPIDERMAN's camp on this one.  I think the motor will be good to go once you get it back from H-D!  I'm glad to hear that they're going to take care of it for you!

Hey Tank, I just had the MoCo re-manufacture my EVO engine and after 4K + miles on it, it's better than it was before (when new).....smoother/all 'upgrades'/etc......that's why I said what I said about being happier w/ your original motor re-manufactured than sticking another new one off the line in her.......jmho.  :)  spyder
