Try a new battery in the alarm module?

Like he said about the battery but also could be in chirpless mode. Do the signal lights blink? In other words is it arming and disarming?

Don, you talking about the box in the fairing or the key fob?

When I read this that's what I was thinking (may be in silent mode) but didn't remember if we had that or not and was too lazy to look it up! [smiley=nixweiss.gif] :)

Try the battery first, that's easier to fix!

May try re-install. Disarm first! Pull maxi fuse. Turn ignition off .Replug alarm put maxi fuse back in. If you do not disarm before you unplug you will be doing a real time battery test. I thought my battery was dead until I unplug the alarm while active. Found myself running around with a sreaming siren trying to quiet it until battery wore down. Was quite laughable. You are correct Hazer_52.  The directions for installing the chirp are wrong in the manual.

By beginning the process with the ignition on and the key fob present:

Turn Ign off (both turn signal indicators on the dash will flash twice), then

Turn Ign on, then off again (wait for turn signal indicators to flash twice again), then

Turn Ign on.

You should then hear the chirp when the system disarms.  Its a weak chirp, but it still confirms that the system is working.  It will be one chirp for disarming the system and it will be two chirps as you walk away from the bike letting you know it armed.

Too bad the manual on these expensive rigs is wrong.  But what do you expect?

BTW, my dealer told me that the chirp was NOT an option.  Go figure.

How weak is this chirp? I hear nothing, the alarm does sound if the fob is not around. Maybe I don't hear very well?

Hello SEFLHTCU,

It's loud enough for anyone sitting on it to hear it, no matter how long we've been riding with loud pipes.

Make sure you have the fob present (in your pocket is OK) when you sit on the bike and start the process.

You'll need to begin with the bike ignition turned on, the simply turn the ignition off.  You'll see both turn signal indicator lights on the dash flash twice.  As soon as they do, quickly turn the ignition on and off.  The lights will flash again.  When they do, quickly turn the ignition on and off again.  The lights will flash again.  I think you have to repeat the whole ON/OFF process about three times before you hear the chirp.  Once you hear the chirp, it is changed over.

It seems a little tricky because of the timing of the ON/OFF.  I wish I could tell you how long to leave it on before turning the ignition back off, but I just turned it on and off again and it worked.  I may go out and reset it back to chirpless (same process) and back on to chirp again tonight to see if I can get better directions for you.  Le tme know if you still can' get it and I'll re-check.

Glad it worked for you.  Too bad the manual isn't right and the dealers don't know how to help us with it.  Thank goodness for this website!!!
