Wild one 575's for short guy?
« on: December 09, 2012, 11:09:54 PM »

Looking real hard at these. Hated the stock bars on my 09 FLHX and I hate em on my FLHXSE3 lol. Just want to be able to reach the bars and still have bent elbows. I find myself leaning forward and slightly down and I am 5'6". Thoughts?

I would also look at the wo578 bars from Wild 1 Chubby, very comfortable and you can roll them back towards you a bit if need be.

I'd go with the next one up from the 575's.  I'm short in arm and went with the 575.  They are a ton better than stock but would have liked another 2"'s.  I guess we would all like another 2"'s eh??  LOL

I've heard good things about the Harley Heritage pull back bars.   I have never used them, but heard that they do a great job regarding the reach.  Some dealers have bars on a display. May want to check into those.  :nixweiss:

I have the Chubby 575's and I really like them, but I also have the customized Reach seat pushing me forward.  This is a picture of me sitting on my scoot at my current reach.  What I really like about the bars is they are thicker in diameter.  They don't look "wimpy" and the 2" out make turning the MC in a small radius much easier.  I'm 5' 6"

I have the 575's also and my arms are short. Check my Avatar to see my arms are bent and I like them much better than stock. I just know Roger is going to chime in on this.

I've got the 575 bars, I'm 5'11", have a Corbin seat and I wish they were a couple of inches closer.  I think the Corbin seat is back a little farther than the stock seat.  I was looking at the 12" Yaffee bars when I bought the 575's.  I had some ordered, then they informed me that there would be a two month wait, so I canceled and went with the 575's.  I think the Yaffee bars look great, but you have to go with longer cables and probably have to switch mirrors.

I'll be staying away from the Corbin seat then lol. The last thing I need is to move farther back. I love the Yaffe bars but I think they are a PITA to install plus the wait time and I don't think they would work well for me unless I roll them back, in that case I don't like the way the look. I think they need to be rolled up inline with the forks to look good just my opinion. I don't want to switch mirrors either I hate that look so I am really leaning toward the 575's for the pullback, a bit of added width, the fact that they come 1 1/4" and look better then HD bars, and the higher height is appealing too as I find myself leaning forward AND down. Thanks for the info!

I'm 5'8" with a 29" inseam and 32" sleeve length in a dress shirt.  I had the 575's on my '06 SEUC and they were a VAST improvement in both comfort and looks.  I also had a Corbin Dual Tour seat, and it does move you back just a smidge, plus, since it doesn't collapse, you sit just slightly higher.  But I loved that seat, and the bars were fine.

I have the WO575's on my 09.  I like the bars but for different reasons than I put them on for.
I put them on for the same reason as you, I wanted the bars back, or closer to me.
Just my opinion but any gain in bringing the bar back closer to you is lost in how much wider your hands are compared to stock bars.
Now that was something I was not looking for but now love about the bars.  The added width and wider grip makes the steering feel much lighter.
I also think the look of the thick bar looks cool.
But if you are looking for the bars to be closer to you the 575's might be disappointing.

Hmmm I am really close to pulling the trigger on these. I haven't seen any that look as good and pullback further?

One other thing that nobody's mentioned about the 575's...the wrist angle is 100% better than stock, so you get some added comfort there as well.
