IS THERE SUCH A THING AS TOO MUCH CHROME?
« on: September 06, 2006, 10:35:52 PM »

I will probably catch a lot of flack for this, especially with all of the OCD members on this site, but I think that too much chrome can take away from the looks of a bike. I was looking at my '07 SE Ultra (red/black) today wondering what chrome additions would make it look better. I have to say, it looks pretty darn good as is. I have added basically functional add-ons. V&H pipes, SERT, Stage I A/C, Freedom short antennas, Freedom wings, tourpak LED lighting, and  smoked LED rear light.

I have had a lot of compliments on how the bike looks and sounds.

I think that too much  chrome is overkill and takes away from the balanced look of the bike.

Sometimes, less is better.  There is plenty of chrome on a stock CVO.

OK, you can start bashing me now. If you agree w/ me speak up, or am I the only sane non -OCD person on this site?

There are four main items to any motorcycle. The sheet metal, the mechanicals, the seat and the tires. I've always subscibed to the theory that sheet metal should be painted and all mechanicals should be chrome. Add to this the right seat, tires that go with the wheels (ie: wide whites look great with wires, but suck with mags) and my answer to you is NO you can't have too much chrome so long as you don't chrome the sheet metal. seat or tires LOL

Adios

To much chrome - probably.  Tasteful chrome reveals your personality.  Like hooker vs. class....

Personally Ace I find the Chrome to be the least expensive part of the addiction  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif].  Once you get into the air shocks, the cams, the tranny, the Power Commander, etc. that is when the real coin starts being spent.

shiny is good.  polished SS, chrome, billet alum, etc......just like custom paint, custom leather, etc.....it's all good!  try not to confuse us with a minimalist approach.  [smiley=confused5.gif] har!  ;) spyder

Many of us have done the lighting on the tour pak after WFP went that way.  Also with the Freedom antenna package.
