I wish for true customization......
Why call a bike a CVO if you can't sit down and order it exactly the way you want it? You can do that with a Sportster and another bike now. Why not a touring bike?
Seems like it would even help the MOCO in gauging demand for certain parts and could adjust inventory.
I know the dealerships would hate it if we didn't have to order from the parts catalog and have them install parts. Just think how uncrowded the service departments would be and it would be much easier to get maintenance or the occasional accessory installed.

Agree. Would be nice to get the bike exactly like you want....and at this price point that's how it should be.  Many of the higher end cars allow you to order your car configured to your desires.  Hmmm, how do we convince the MOCO???

Us being able to order a CVO they way we want it would also hurt the MoCo.... who/where do you think a majority of the parts/accessories we add on come from. They (MoCo) know what they are doing by not letting us order them the way we want and not including everything and the kitchen sink out of the P&A book on CVO's... they want you back in the dealerships spending more $$$.

Screamin eagle parts in a Screamin eagle motor, build them right with heavy duty parts not the same bull s#!t lifters and cheesy cranks that were on the 88" motor. These 110's produce a lot more torque, generate a lot more heat and operate at significantly higher pressures than 88's, 96's or 103's I haven't had any problems with mine yet but, I've read the posts and it's worrisome to me. As far as loading the bike out exactly the way you want it, that's a thing of the past, as others have already said, why would we go back in if we got it all up front. They're not gonna let us have a 426 hemi, pistol grip 4 spd and a dana 60 rear any more unless we purchase it after we've bought the 318 auto.

A 3 year fender to fender warranty along with a 5 year engine and drivetrain warranty.

X2 on that one.  Addin' one year to the factory warranty and seperating the engine/drivetrain would be a great deal.  Of course then the dealer would jump up and down because they couldn't sell you the extended warranty when you purchase the scooter AND it would bankrupt the MoCo in engine/drivetrain claims.  Oh wait, never mind.  They would just not cover any issue because you added those new hand grips and that effected the entire driveline.... :2vrolijk_21:

I digress....sorry  ;D

Can't really think of a thing I would'a changed from the factory on Ginger.  May add a tour pac one day but..... ::)

I disagree with this, to a certain extent.  If you pay for the part at time of purchase, or after, the dealer and MOCO still make the same money (nothing is free).  You can order a number of cars (BMW, Porsche, MINI, Corvette) exactly the way you want it, and the manufacturer and dealer still make the same money.  CVO's are targeted toward a higher end purchaser and there's no reason Harley can't build to order, other than because we as consumers accept the way things are.

I also like the idea of longer warranties...

If we could order what we wanted it would take a year to get one. The dealer would install some of the parts and then upcharge and keep the parts they take off. I never agreed with my dealer who when I ordered chrome they didn't let me have the parts they took off. I agree with other posts, if we buy a CVO then most Screaming Eagle parts and improved parts should be already on the bike. Warranty, it seems only right to offer a limited five year like most vehicles. It seems like rods then would have true bearings then too.
