My chunks aren't as big as yours, I'm assuming that they're from the jackshaft.

Same thoughts and issues Murh.

The chunks in my picture are from the ring gear. The starter drive was fine.
I replaced both with the Rivera Primo ring and pinion kit along with the their drive.10/84

Think this was it.

http://www.riveraprimoinc.com/catalog/manufacturer/Rivera%20Primo/p.101%20Rivera%20Primo%20Ring%20Gears%20and%20Starter.pdf

Because of this option on the finer models I did not want to use HD parts

Made it easier to start but not enough to not still consider CR's or these cams.

None of the s&s cams are configured properly for a late model bolt in 96" or 103" or 110"

A good bolt in for a 96" engine would not be any trouble starting nor have any need for the ES feature

Go with a S&S gear drive system, I've been very pleased with mine.

Even with the stock CR's I blew through two OEM ring gears and one pinion (and 2 starter clutches and 1 clutch hub). Since installing the Rivera system about 40K ago all has been good (at least untill I gernaded the motor at 70K)

We use them, Kirby uses them, and John Sachs is very fond of S&S cams.
The .570 itself is an un-sung hero, the .585 packs a potent punch set-up correctly, as does the .625. and the big .640 will pull the big horsepower.
The E-Z start feature is a great cost savings for the end user as the cost of releases is no longer.
I think I'll call S&S next week and alert thm that they should go back to the drawing board, scrap all their Bonneville knowledge, discontinue their engine program, take all the 1/4 dragstrip records and toss those in the can, and hell, may as well call there local power company and tell them to shut the electricity off to both the Viola, and LaCrosse facilities..................... :D

look into the S&S .557`s,GREAT low end TQ

What is the Minimum Compression Ratio you would recommend with this CAM?

I am considering and EZ Start Cam just for the reasons you mentioned above.
Why worry about Drill/Tap the heads for ACRs or MCRs, when you can do the same with and SZ Start Cam
