IF you were to sell that bike, and I was looking, I would prefer the stock parts on the bike.
JMHO
X2 Agree! Or at least get the stock parts so I could use them if I wanted to.

we just ended such a "garage sale" on ebay, found a big box previously overlooked full of standard parts from our 2002 FLHRCI (seats, standard fork, standard cylinders, topcase, mirrors and the like, bolts, nuts and chrome) mixed it with last years take offs from the CUSE and added some shirts and other H-D stuff we realized we will never use again. After 2 weeks all in all summed up to over 6.000 $ ;)

BTW: the 02 parts sold exceptionally well, the 09 did not  ::)

Of course German prices for H-D stuff are twice your prices, but still impressive for stuff laying around, claim space and just collect dust  8)

Like Kraut stated that is a pretty impressive haul for stuff that you're never going to use again. I usually hang on to the stock items just in case you decide to get rid of the bike by way of sale or trade. You NEVER recoup what you've put into the bike in mods and no-one wants to pay for you to customize their bike so to speak. I take as much off without making the pillaging too obvious and then sell the stuff on Kijiji (CDN Craig's list) or on HD Forum. It helps to buffer what you don't get for the bike and put that toward future mods. JMHO.  :cool26:

i sold off all my extra 07 stuff, my extra 02 stuff, and my extra 79 stuff, and my extra 77 stuff on ebay last winter and the winter before.

got a LOT of money for it - averaged 1/2 of new in box price.

i always plan on keeping stuff till the bike is paid for - just never got around to selling it. the old stuff from the 70's has been moved 4 times & originated when i lived in oregon before i went to college and had kids - but still had the stuff.

in the future - ill put it on ebay the day the bike is paid for.

I usually buy new but if I were to ever buy used I would only look for a clean low mileage unmolested stock bike, even if I planned on mods later.

send them all to me and I will create a giant sculpture of useless Harley Parts that were installed to make us want different parts....

The handle bars will work to make jungle gyms for school playgrounds and seats to proclaim mastery of climbing....
