Why flip the battery? What is the drain on the fob?
The fob transmits all the time, that's why the battery lasts a very short time compared to the old push button fobs. It is a good idea on the new buttonless style to change the battery on a regular schedule
every year. As for turning the battery upside down, you could also insert a strip of plastic between the battery and the fob, like many companies do with items that come with batteries installed. They leave a tab sticking out that you can just pull out to let the battery make contact when you want to use the device.
Rather than leave a spare fob on the bike where it could possibly be stolen, why not just keep a spare battery on the bike? And don't forget to learn how to use the turn signal switches and your secret code to fire the bike up if you do lose your fob. I get the impression most folks don't think about that until after the fob goes dead or they lose it or leave it in the garage. Do it now and put the card from the owners manual that details how to use the code in your wallet.
