Don, glad you got it back on the road, good luck with the weather window.
The project looks great and the name plate is the topper, has to be worth a couple HP. Good to know that she's runnin' after all of the hassles to get to this point. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
Got to ride it another 20 or so miles this morning. Headed out of town on the local two lanes and just ran it through it's paces some keeping the R's below 3500-3800 or so. That's about all I could manage between showers though. Then the weather started moving in and the fun was done for awhile. I also completely agree about the nameplace. It still is beyond comprehension to me that they would not cut that as just a matter of course when the things are jigged up. It's a significant improvement and really does finish setting everything off. A tremendous focal point to their own work that Diamond Heads was apparently completely willing not to take advantage of.
Don,
All I can say is WOW!!! Looks beautiful, and from your comments, sounds like it will run smooth and strong. I'm glad that you persevered through all of the BS and that you now have what you set out to have. Ride safe and enjoy!
Thanks Ernie. No sunshine today so the pics I got outdoors still don't really show it off. But they do at least suggest what it looks like in person. I'm tending my niece this afternoon after preschool. Picked up her about noon. Brought her back to the house. We walk in to the garage and the little nearly 4 year old toddles over the motorcycle, leans over, puts her finger out toward the diamond cut and color, looks up and asks "hot?", gets the approval to touch it, then does so and looks up to say "that's boot-ee-ful." So if it catches her eye I think your "WOW" estimation must be pretty spot on [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .
But,
would you do it again?
Neal, it'd depend. With spare parts so the bike would not be down during the process yes I would (if I
really wanted the end result). Without spare parts to send around to avoid the bike being down, however, I'd never even begin the job no matter how badly I wanted the end result. In that case it just wouldn't have been worth the hassle.
