2Lane-
I didn't know that this was that much of a struggle to get done but I can see that it has.  You're disgusted now, but as others have stated-"it will be worth it".  Heck, you may as well get the frame powder coated red while at it, but I know you wouldn't be without a bike that long.

On a side note, please have at the forefront of a post "dictionary may be required".  Pedantic-didn't look it up and still don't know what it means.   :)

Some positive in the fallout; at least of a type.  As mentioned during the tirade above (felt much better afterwards too) Diamond Heads was the only vendor that did as they promised about getting product out the door.  They dropped the ball on cutting the script in the heads though.  But, for what it's worth, they did at least perform the service they did do very promptly, exactly on the (very fair) price point described and even a day quicker then they'd said might be the case.

I emailed them last night describing what was missed.  Have a case of flu right now so actually don't have enough voice to carry on a long conversation with anyone.  But emailed them with the details of the problem.  Given their prior demeanor on the phone when the work was first being arranged I was optimistic they'd be good to work with in correcting the problem.

Got a phone call from someone there a half hour ago.  No long winded explanations, no hassles, nothing other than "it's not in our notes, sorry, we'll have UPS pick them up and get it done."  So while the other vendors had repetitive delays and excuses and annoyances and (especially with Sumax) and overabundance of attitude they just simply had a mistake.  They missed one thing on the job.  And they're fixing it.

Mistakes happen.  Fixing it without hassle is all one can ask for.  Now we'll just hope the heads survive another trip by UPS.

Don;
What a crappy chain of events! These mods are supposed to be fun, not cause an ulcer.

Its good that Diamond Heads are taking care of their mistake. Nice to see them admit the problem and take care of it. Will the head need to be disassembled for the work?

Jim, that was my biggest concern.  I didn't want to disassemble the newly rebuilt head.  I know, it's not a big deal.  Or at least it shouldn't be.  But I just didn't want to do it.  They told me this morning, however, that to diamond cut the "face" of the head where the script is can be done without disassembling anything.  They'll mask everything off, do the work and send it home.

If the heads fresh back from Zippers' work had to be torn down again I'd have probably just bailed and used them the way they were.  I know, it doesn't make any sense.  But you get someone just a little bit ham-fisted with a spring compressor and you've got problems.  And I just didn't want to screw with any more problems.  But they assure me they can do what they need to without having to touch the machine work.
