When I picked up my 09 in August of 08 I paid $305.00 for one year of registration. When I renewed for 2012-2013 it was down to $229.00. My 95 Heritage is down to $94.00. Might go down a little more but I doubt it. Registation was reasonable a few years ago compared to now. My 1974 Ford F250 was down to about $75.00. Now thanks to "The Arnold" it went up as high as $179.00 now it is down to $163.00, but I keep it because it is 39 years old and runs great, no smog checks, and cheap insurance. On a crappy note they just upgraded everyone's electric meter to a "smart meter" that sends in a signal to Cal Edison so they don't have a meter reader come out. Naturally my bill jumped up immediately. I won't be surprised if there is a class action law suit about that. Practically everyone I know has a higher electric bill since they got their new meter, and now the electric company doesn't have to pay anyone to come out and read it so they are saving money  big time. You could opt out of that and keep your old meter for a small fee and then $5.00 per month extra on your bill. I wish I would have. Sorry for getting off topic. CAHDBIKER

It's that dreadful time of year for me to renew my motorcycle and car tags here in this Great State of Alabama...my 2012 FLHTCUSE7 license plate will cost $361. In regards to some of my other vehicles...2011 Jeep Rubicon cost $257, 2009 Vespa 250 is $55, and my 1972 Land Rover is only $28.  I know they compute the AD VALOREM Taxes based on the accessed value of the vehicle/motorcycle...but this is just crazy.

So my question to all of you:  What do you pay for license tags on your CVO compared to other motorcycles or vehicles you own in your state?

Broke in Bama...

I would venture to say that Alabama residents pay way more than average.  Mine is coming due in March and I dread it.  Each year, any given vehicle's tag goes down a bit in cost.  Alabama has a regressive tax system, so that's why you pay more for this kind of stuff.  But the cost of living here for things like property tax, home prices, etc is VERY low compared to most states, with the exception of certain areas in larger cities like B'ham, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery.

I expect my tag for the bike will be in the $250-300 range, and the car will be at least that much, probably more.

I am in the same boat, close to $250 to $300

Tag for a CVO is no different cost than for any other bike.

If I remember correctly 14 dollars a year of a motorcycle Tag.  However all my bikes have vanity or personalized tags.  That is right around 50 a tag.

Cars and trucks are 24 for a tag.

That's right Dave.  $14 for MC regular tags, $24 for reg. cage tags.  Some of our counties in TN have a road/wheel tax but not much at $25-$50 added to the cost of the tag.  Lived in SC (Aiken County) for 5 years and will NEVER return there to live....just costs too much to live tax-wise (personal property, property, insurance, etc).  Don't know how y'all in Calif., Mass, NY, NJ can afford to own a vehicle....glad I'm in TN... :2vrolijk_21:

Good to know that TN rates are low....another reason for me to move there at some point in time.  Plus, they don't tax Pensions   :2vrolijk_21:  How are property taxes (home)?  Would really like to live in either the Maryville area or up near Johnson City.

Here in Ca cost and age are the major factor.
Our '07 Cvo Ultra- $189  the '07 FHLX (non cvo) $ 126. Both our '09 Suzuki DL's are about $129 No prop tax
With cars and truck it's cost, age and Weight. My 93 1 ton is $239 and my 97 1 ton is $289 the 2003 4 runner is $169
Both our boat tags are the same, I believe about $30 ea. for 2 years,  but there is also property tax on each that differs by value.
Our dirt bikes have green and red stickers here and are about $52 for 2 years with no other costs

In the UK we have 1st M.O.T (ministry of transport test for safety) £45.00-$110.00 ruff.

Then you register the M.O.T. number with motor vehicles.

Then you pay a road tax to motor vehicles £80.00-$150.00 ruff. For the privilege to use their uneven, pothole, and
patched up roads.  You can not get the Rd tax with out the M.O.T. can not ride with no Rd tax sticker on the bike

Then insurance full comp. £365.00-$700.00 ruff.

Total.... £490.00-$950.00 ruff. for the yr. 6 months you pay more.

Best property tax rate is in Sevier county (gatlinburg and Pigeon forge). Maryville is in Blount county and pretty good rates (Dave could tell you better). Tried to get my dad to move up here from Summerville, SC a few years ago when he retired as he would get about a 10% bump in his pension not having to pay SC income tax. Come on up when you are ready...be glad to have you M.R.

I live in Roane county, west south west of Maryville.  We have a very low property tax.  I pay around 2200 a year on a custom built log home on and acre lake lot.

Maryville area is a very good area.  Great Dealership too.  Lots of good rides in any direction from Maryville.  I spend lots of time in that area, its 55 miles from me, a great ride over.

Only negative to TN is we do have a high sales tax, but that is it.  No personal property tax or any of that.

Sorry Dave, for some reason I thought you were on the lake in Blount Co.

Midnight, Roane, Anderson (outside Oak Ridge and Clinton...high city property taxes) Sevier, are good counties for lower property taxes.  Knox, Morgan, Union would be options but toward the bottom of my list.  I live in Morgan and except for Memphis and Nashville, it has one of the highest property tax rates in TN for a county.
Hey, how are you gonna keep an eye on my mom (in Autaugaville, AL) if you move up here....?  ::) :2vrolijk_21:

Registration in Texas is pretty cheap. $50-60 a year for trucks and cars, $30-40 a year for motorcycles depening upon county.
