PCR,

Thank you for the information. I will make sure I check this and adjust as/if needed when I get mine. Keep us posted should the need arise! :)

Update:

Met with Ed the Local HD Rep. today. After looking at the problem he took many pictures. He told me that he had not seen this before and has not heard anything about it but he also said he doesn't see a lot of CVO's. He called a guy that is something like the chief of the CVO's but got his voice mail. He left a message describing the problem and he would be sending the pictures tonight to him. He told me that they would most likely cover it under warranty one time but it may happen again he doesn't see how it could be prevented. I told him I was not in a hurry for it to be replaced as long as it was going to be covered. I asked him to check into it with the engineers if they experienced it and if they had a plan to correct this problem.

So I ask this of everyone that has this problem to present it to you dealer and make sure that the dealer reports it.
The more HD is made aware of it the quicker something will be done to get it corrected.

I don't just want it replaced 1 time I want it replaced with one that I know will not have this problem again.
Many owners may be willing to just accept it for what it is but not me and the 07's have the same Tourpak so unless something has changed 07 owners should be checking and watching for this also.
If anybody seen what the one looked like that I seen in Gettysburg I am positive they would not be willing to accept it either. The tear in mine is about 1/2" long on each side but I know they are going to get worse and now it is starting to rub on the side by the lock button.
The price tag on this tourpak is $1500 and that is for a standard one, ours with the CVO medallion on them I am sure is much more.

My other issues about the fender paint under the seat and the seat itself are going to be reviewed with the CVO group also. He took plenty of pictures to send to them.

This is great news!  Can you explain who the "HD Rep" is?  Did you have to arrange to have him come to the dealership or is Ed from the dealership?

Ed is a moco rep that visits the dealership maybe once a month. I asked when he was scheduled to be in and luckily it was Thursday of the following week. The service manager was already aware of the problem but for issues like this Ed would need to see it.

pcr02hd was wise to meet with the HD Rep personally.  I was unable to attend the "viewing" due to work demands and counted on the dealer to represent me.  That puts the dealer in a difficult position.

If you have a problem that needs discussion, be there personally.

Well, I guess I'm joining the rest of you who have had this leather problem.  I just checked mine and there it was...the leather is already worn off, down to the base, in both spots.  I just had the dealer take pics to send in for warranty work.  We'll see what they come back with. I usually ride two up and I really think this may be the culprit.  It seems that HD should have had a rubber seam there, or at least some extra strength.  I sure hope HD will take care of the problem, otherwise I guess I'll go see my favorite upholstery shop. >:(

Well, add me to the list.

After reading this post I checked out my 07 (picked up 9/1) and alread see wear marks on my tour pack.

I covered each spot with a strip of black electrical tape to prevent further wear and will report it to my dealer.

Please keep us all updated regarding feedback from the MOCO on this.

Thanks,

Mark

Just returned from Daytona yesterday.  Have the 2007 Ultra SE with a little over 3000 miles on it.  Have already worn the leather through on the lip of the bottom of the tour pack due to rubbing where one of the seams contact the lip.  Has anyone been successful in getting the dealer to come up with a solution to this?
Many thanks, Roger in PA

All the 07 CUSE's need to be looking at the seat and backrest as well.  Both of the local one's here have the surface treatment coming off the seat and/or backrest with less than 1500 miles.  By 2000 miles, it's quite evident.  The moco is doing something different with the 07 seats than they did for the 06's.

The only problem we have experienced on the 2007 UCSE is the latch has been in for service twice but adjustments have been made and everything is a ok.

Got a call from the dealer that a new Tour-Pak came in with my name on it.
Took the bike in today and had it installed.
Looks the same as the one they took off except no wear marks in it yet.
I think it is going to do the same thing as the one they took off.
If so I will bring it back again.
Maybe if the MOCO gets enough of these back they will redesign it.

My biggest problem with the tour pak, is where to put it when I have it off the bike...which is all the time, will only use it for long trips (wifey loves it), and complains about it missing even when we are going 1 mile to dinner.

The TourPak Pucker...
Has anyone experienced a pucker on the top of their leather tourpak.  A couple of photos to illustrate my point.
